Last weekend my father and I did some work around the house that needed to be done. One of the project was to move an old motorboat that has been sitting in our backyard for 5 years to the front yard so some guy can come by and pick it up. Somehow, we had maneuvered the boat such that there was not enough room to drive a truck up to it and hook it up to the hitch. There was only about 5 feet of clearance, and then a woodpile was stacked in front of the boat and trailer. It was positioned between wooden posts, however, so it had to come forward to be able to turn.

Since we couldn't use a truck, we decided, in our redneck wisdom, to use our little 3hp John Deere lawn mower to try and move it. We drove it up to the hitch, chained it to the rear of the mower, and attempted to push/tow the boat out of its cell and into the front yard. Somehow, through the use of a hydrualic jack, several jackstands, 2 2x6 boards and lots of elbor grease, we got the boat rolling and that little John Deere actually was able to haul that boat all the way up to the front yard.

As we moving it, I couldn't help but laugh. Here we are, my father wearing a Nascar t-shirt and purple plaid shorts, towing a huge motorboat with a rinky dink lawn mower to put it on cinder blocks in front of the house. God we're rednecks.

Sorry for the blurry pics; apparently I had some condensation on my camera lens and didn't realize it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. At first, the weight of the boat was so great that it nearly caused the mower to flip over. As soon as the clutch was engaged, the front wheels would climb into the air and my dad would yell and almost somersault backwards. I had to push the boat to get it rolling before the mower could manage on its own. Poor little thing. :)

Hahaha. :D Reminds me of when I had to help my father in law get his boat out from the backyard. We used a 4 wheeler to do the job and the boat was huge. 30' party boat just about owned us and the 4 wheeler.
