How often do you shut down?

In the winter, I just keep the machine on. Serves as a nice room heater. I shut down only when I need to. Maybe once a month or so.

In the summer, I leave it on in the day and shut it down in the night, or when I go out somewhere. Room gets kind of hot if I don't close the door too. If I keep my computer on, with my room door closed, and turn on the AC... it just keeps getting hotter ;P.

System Up Time: 18 Days, 17 Hours, 23 Minutes, 29 Seconds

But my Programs menu doesn't work any more, so I need to reboot soon. XP really isn't as bad as some people make it out to be.

I shut down every night to save on electricity, new apartment, every run on electricity. I'm sure i'm not saving that much, but who knows. It also helps cut down on noise since my pc is noisy. With shutting down my pc, i also shut off both my monitors 19 flat crt and a 17 lcd

Never, if I could. I hate rebooting.

I accidently hit the power strip, killing my 30+ day uptime.. so it's only been 4 days now.

I turn off the tower in my room whenver I leave the house,or go to bed.

Another tower upstairs runs 24/7, doing Seti @ home classic.

I use a Linksys router hub,and Cat5 cable,LOL. No wireless for me,no thanks.😉

Anyone else think this was another "Are you a thread-killer?" thread?

I shut down my comp when I am not sitting in front of it, unless I am either dl'ing something large, or know that I am only going to be away for a couple minutes. Max uptime is measured in hours, occasionally in days.

Which PC?

Servers on my workbench rarely if ever.
PC in by bedroom. Always at night.

A handful of times a year. System maintenance (hardware) or because I'm going away for a few days... otherwise I would rather leave it on.

How often? Whenever Windows Update or a program installation says so. On a related note... I would like to be able to hibernate my machines BUT, still be able to Remote Desktop into them. Any guides on how to do this?

There's no rhyme or reason to when I shut down.
Sometimes it's on for weeks, sometimes it's off every night.
Usually some sort of update forces me to reboot sooner or later.

I leave my download/upload PC on 24/7 & reboot it every week or a bit sooner.

My main PC gets turned off it i'm not using it, since it's loud, & i pay my own power bill.
