The newly named SETI Bombers take the day again, although Team A was close behind. The Troopers, despite increasing output by nealy 30 WUs from yesterday, continue to struggle in 3rd place.

Power Groups

Power Group 1

TeAm Lancer --------- 314

Starship Troopers -- 198

The B-1 Bombers (a.k.a. TeAm Lancer) again with a big day in PG1 beat out TWAIN, with the Starship Troopers lagging far behind.

TeAm Spirit ------ 77

The Seti Gobblers take PG2 again, this time with the Troopers' PG2 team in second place and TeAm Spirit trailing.

The OPQ Troopers take 1st place, making this the Troopers' first win in any Power Group. The B-3 Bombers were a close second, with Team A's PG3 division still not able to get those few extra WUs.

Alright SETI Bombers! WTG! We don't have much margin and I think I might have eaten that margin yesterday! 🙁 But, I have a plan to minimize the loss.

I bought a new Maxtor 40GB HD a week ago. My plan was to copy the data on my existing HD to this one with the utility provided with the drive (MaxBlast.) Well, it wouldn't work, instead it would hang and I tried all kinds of stuff to get it to go. I even returned the drive and got another package. It still hung during the process. Well, I managed to blow away my original HD!!! It had my SetiQueue with about 24 WUs, which is more than our margin. 🙁

The purpose was to install WindowsXP Pro on this box to make it more stable. I will be gone for 10 days over Thanksgiving and this box hangs periodically. So, I figured it would be worth it to do the upgrade. I'd plan to clone the drive which I've done many times, but for some reason the software I use didn't work. (sniff-sniff) So, what was going to be my backup ended up being a blank disk!

I've got the box back up and running and SetiQueue is working now on XP. Since my Queue dumps via dialup between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM DST each day, I figure I can move my connect time forward about 8 to 10 hours and make up the difference. Last night I started the rebuild of my Queue after mid-night GMT, but before Soni captures his stats, so he got some of today's WUs in yesterday's numbers. That's why I had 103.

Overall, I hope the switch to XP will be a positive move. The blown data forced me to do a clean install, which I needed to do. Oh, well! 🙂
 
JWM, do you run SetiSpy? I have occasional lockups with it under XP, usually at boot; but I did an upgrade not a clean install, your results will be intereresting.
 
I agree with ConfusedBW, whose damn idea was this anyway. 😱

It would be very helpful if each PG team would have in their name something that identified them a part of their Super Team.

One thing this format has going for it is that the race is short. 🙁

If it continues to be confusing I want to be the first to recommend we go to Baldy18's format of 4 or 5 teams for the next race.

Yes, on all my systems, 3 of which run XP. And, I have had SetiSpy crash. XP seems to catch it and asks if I want to report the error. I don't. Since my system run 24/7 they don't get booted very often. 🙂 Seems that once it works it keeps working. On the latest system I had to restart SetiSpy 3 or 4 times to get it to stay up.

this is a very new format, and i think it will take a while to get used to it (but by then the race will probably be over lol) 😕

i understand what an undertaking this has been for DarkMajiq, and i'll say it again, his work is appreciated by EVERYONE here 🙂

DM, that might be a good idea. When and if all of the teams adopt a common name thread the A1,B3, .....etc. could be dropped.

It is nice the way Soni includes the DC Forum Name and the SETI Name...it helps keep who is who straight. The addition of the A1,B3, ....etc would serve the same purpose.

Hehe - That's exactly why I thought the B-1, B-2 and B-3 Bombers would be a great idea! 😀 So, until everyone get use to our nick names you can refer to The SETI Bombers by our long names:

Smokeball- I actually like this idea. I have no clue what is going on but it sure looks competative.😉 Even though it takes more time to check the stats to make sure I got things straight I think it is a realy nice format that is making for some great competition.
