Since I have been waiting for this game for months, and bought it for the 360, I thought I'd start an official thread.

I'll post my review tomorrow. I'll be doign the single player campaign.

So everyone that has it, lets start talking and use those spoiler tags when appropriate.

I only finished the first full level (Sedgwick Hotel) and I dig it. Look good enough though the frame rate goes down when things get really busy (destroying all the stuff while fighting ghosts). Neat using the pke meter to search for secrets, reading the tobin spirit guide..etc. Whats even better is that all the sounds and music are straight from the movie. Everything just sounds so familiar and its great fan service...and of course you gotta try the pole! :)

Dr Ray Stantz: Everything was fine with our system until the power grid was shut off by dickless here.
Walter Peck: They caused an explosion!
Mayor: Is this true?
Dr. Peter Venkman: Yes it's true. This man has no dick.

I went to go rent it from Blockbuster today but they hadn't gotten it in yet. Hopefully tomorrow or Thursday.

I've tried to rent games on release several times in the past on release day and I've always been told they don't put out new games till the Friday of the weekend rush. Probably not for all blockbusters but for the 2 I've called they said the same thing. Of course on friday the lines are crazy long and I sure as hell am not waiting and then I lose interest and they lose a customer. Oh well

They are all over the place. I've been told that games don't come out until Friday but then they put games like Halo Wars on the shelves on Tuesday. It's really a PITA to get new releases but I get rent 1 get 1 free coupons for Blockbuster so I put up with it.

Ordered it on the Wii....Should be getting it Thursday. I do plan to get the PC version after I update my video card as the game needs 512mb video card and mine is 256mb....

Curious about the DS version?

Anyways the Wii edition is the same as the PS3,360 and PC just with a cartoon look and has co-op for the story mode.

I'm on the 360 ...
I died in the middle of the first level so I went to bed. My only negative so far, if you die it takes forever for the game to restart at the last checkpoint. Only happened once though so maybe it is an isolated incident of slow loading.

If you've seen the movie you can catch a couple of jokes that some others will miss. One woman in the Sedgwick Hotel was sitting in the lobby and as I approached her she said something like "I got a free upgrade to a corner sweet". I died laughing. For me atleast, the jokes are working and it really does feel movie like with the cut scenes.

The controls are very easy to use. My only gripe (minor) is that you need to manually put your goggles/PKE meter away before using the gun. I iwhs the goggles would go away when you pres the fire button.

You make money throughout the game and this allows you to upgrade the equipment (guns, traps, etc)

Can't wait to play it some more.

(Just finished the Library Level)

Ghostbusters seems to be done with the same humor and level of entertainment as the movies were. Which is extremely good. Here are my only gripes with the game so far.

The lip sync is very annoying. I mean its not even close. You would think they would be able to get a detail like this correct. The second thing that I havn't liked about the game is the other "busters" AI. They get downed all the time because they just stand there and take damage, you are then expected to get them back up, the only good thing is they will get each other back up however usually get knocked down in process of doing so and then you are on your own.

This game is also bringing my 360 to its knees in terms of frame rate. On very busy parts of the games it slows wayyy down. Anyone with the PS3 version care to chime in if there is the same problem with that system?

????

I'm playing the PC version and I've never seen them do this. A lot of the time it feels like they're carrying me through everything. I'm just screwing around and breaking shit, shooting boson darts at everything breakable, and in the background I hear those guys trapping ghosts and kicking ass. They die every once in a while, but I've never seen two of them die at once.

I'm playing the game on easy if that makes a difference. Maybe they act more and more retarded on the harder difficulties since that actually would make the game more difficult.

I rented this version and played the first level while my neighbor bought the 360 version. I am not sure if they play different since at house he was playing the game and I was just watching, but visually the difference is really noticeable. If I were to buy a copy, it would definitely be the 360 version.

Yeah, the PS3 version is running at about 960 x 540 instead of 720p plus it is blurrier because of the 'quincux' AA filter that the devs used on the PS3 version and it is missing some textures apparently.

If you are lucky enough to own a 360 and a PS3, get the 360 version for this game because the dev farked up the PS3 version.

The Lens of Truth was the first to notice and it was picked up by Gamezine and others.

That seems to be the consensus on game trailers as well.

I went to my Blockbuster yesterday, and they were all rented out. :( They only had two copies for 360 and one for PS3. It'll probably be a couple of months before I'm able to find it there. Little Big Planet was rented out too... been waiting to play that one for a while. I ended up with Left 4 Dead and Dead Space instead.

Now I'm pissed. Games typically land on BB shelves either Tuesday or Thursday. I went to BB on Tuesday when they opened - No Ghostbusters on the shelf. Went to BB today and they had Ghostbusters but they were all checked out for both the 360 and the Wii.

I may end up just going back to Gamefly. After Halo Wars and now this it has just gotten to be a giant PITA to try and check stuff out from BB. What good is a Rent 1 get 1 free coupon if there isn't anything I want to rent?

I was actually able to pick up a copy at a different Blockbuster on my way home yesterday. Yay! They had copies of all three consoles sitting on the shelves. I was tempted to get both the 360 and Wii version just to play the differences but decided against splitting my attention like that.

So far, I'd have to say the best thing about the game is the voice acting. Having the original cast doing the voices is a treat. My pluses and minuses after about two hours of play last night:

pluses:
- Proton streams - mmmmm forbidden unlicensed nuclear accelerator
- Old familiar faces in old familiar places - It was fun to see all the characters, run around the firehouse, and run around the hotel with the snooty manager.
- Graphics - I haven't noticed any stuttering or frame rate slow-downs except for the cut-scenes. Probably the same as Gears of War 1 where they are loading the next level while playing a cut-scene causing the cut-scene frame rate to drop.
- Slamming - Wasn't part of the movie and I'm not sure how you can slam an entity that can go through walls, but it was fun none the less.

minuses:
- loading times - After dieing, why does it take so long to reload the last checkpoint?
- time it takes to lasso a ghost - Doing the street portion after the hotel last night, it seemed like I was blasting and blasting and blasting on those ghosts and gargoyles (hey that sounds like a game!) before they got weak enough to lasso with a proton stream. Really got to be a PITA because you're having to spend so much time focused on weakening the one ghost that the others are coming by and knocking your around.
- lip-synching can get off
- wish just pressing the RT would switch you from using the PKE meter when you spot a ghost

Slamming is a neat twist. I think it is fairly obvious that they needed to do this or the game would have been boring. It requires a bit more skill if you add in slamming. Fact of the matter is that alot of the guns are new anyways.

I agree about the checkpoint reloading. It's very irritating even though it seems to be less than a minute. Probably under 30 seconds. The wait screen should have been more interesting.

I had the same complaint about the RT button and PKE meter thing till I learned the controls better. The RT button scans ghosts when you are using the PKE meter. After a scan, you can read about the ghosts weaknesses.

The lip syncing is way off but i don't really care about that.

And 10/10 for comedy in a video game. Funiest game I've ever played.

Wow, that really blows. I was thinking of checking out this game, and as a PS3 and Wii owner... I'm not really sure which route to take.
