Nice, very nice.

For those that will certainly post that those specs svck or the likes, remember that this is a mobile chip, and those are GF2U numbers in that market.

0.8 and 2.4 peak? Holy sh!t, what a change from the DDR🙂

Sweet NFS4... you always bring up the good stuff 😎

I also want to see the benchmarks. I'd love a labtop I could play Countertrike on! 😀

The assimilation begins:

<< NVIDIA® Corporation announced today that the Computer Systems Group (CSG)
of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. has chosen the new GeForce2
Go(TM) for their Satellite® line of notebook PCs. By featuring the
revolutionary GeForce2 Go in the highly successful Satellite line of mobile
PC's, Toshiba will deliver the industry's most extreme multimedia
experience. Systems featuring the GeForce2 Go will be available in the
spring of 2001.

Does anybody else smell perfect LAN machines coming down the pipe?

P3 700 - 800 MHz
128 or 256 MB RAM
GeForce2 mobile pushing a 15" LCD
Wireless LAN card

Toss in an optical mouse & a decent keyboard, & you've got a LAN machine that will fit in a backpack. Plus you can play from the recliner.

Dave, did you even read the link I gave?

<< The demo's we saw were your standard, run of the mill, Nvidia demos. On display were the bubble, glass castle, small pond, and creature demos. The creature and castle demos strive to stress the polygon throughput of the T&L engine on the GeForce2 Go chip, though it didn't seem to break a sweat running either of these demos. The bubble and small pond demos strive to push the ability of the chip to render bump/cube mapped areas, which the chip was able to handle. The moral of these demos is that this chipset can handle them just as well as Nvidia's desktop offerings - impressive for a laptop. >>

Something tells me I'll be selling my desktop early next year...

I've always wanted a laptop. The idea of web browsing from my bed is too much to pass up.

I do that already with my iPAQ PDA and CompactFlash 56k modem 😉

btw, I wasn't wrong about the power consumption. I was quoting you the power consumption on the MX as it is in retail form.

damnit... i want a laptop in 3 weeks... this isn't going to be out... wonder if i could just "rent" the laptop...? stupid slow ATi chips... suxor.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This happens every time I order something. Too late to change from my ThinkPad with its ancient ATI Rage Mobility 128 chipset. Oh well, it was state-of-the-art when I ordered it at least.

Two things:
Can they keep the heat down? I have had one laptop in the past that would crash in Diablo because of the heat (mostly from the cdrom.)
Can they lick the compatabiliy issues that no doubt will arise? Its not like we can rip it out, sell it and but a new video card to put in it.
This is great news for us road warriors but I must admit I'm not looking forward to playing an FPS on a laptop. LCDs blow for that type of game. Its bad enough just trying to play less "bouncy" games without getting a headache from the after images. SLower paced (image wise) games are the only thing tolerable on these things.
I'm actually looking forward to ATi's mobile Radeon chip. I think that will be much more useful overall in a laptop. Finally some decent DVD for on the plane.
