Were you REALLY expecting a story more sophisticated than "kill the bad guys"?

That's your bad then. Are you, like, hella disappointed when you rescue the princess every time in Mario, or defeat Ganon in Zelda?
It's too bad you don't understand sarcasm. Maybe you should go back and reread the thread and see what we were referencing when we typed that.

Oh sorry. Should have gone back and carefully match post to poster and carefully make a two column list of the pro-gears posters and the anti-gears posters.

(that was sarcasm.)

Multiplayer has been hit and miss, the experience is great but I've had some AWFUL teammates lately!

That's definitely true. If you play random rooms, expect to have an average of 2 teammates who go in guns blazing only to get killed and have your team play from behind. Its definitely a team game.

just finished the last chapter in act 4 ... did not like that level at all, could have definitely done without it being in the game.

wow I absolutely hate the multiplayer. Nothing glitchy or anything, I just don't like it.

And horde gets annoying at around level 20. How do you kill the berserkers?

Shoot the glowing yellow spot on its torso. You'll know if you're hitting/doing damage if your crosshair/reticle turns red.

yea we stopped at level 20 cause it was too hard, forget what level it is.

beast mode is a lot of fun though.

still haven't played any vs multi yet though.

That's for the mutated ones with the immulsion, the regular ones you have to have one person soften them with the scorcher and everyone else shoot them with other weapons

I have never seen so many people not help up a downed ally, pubbing is already a horrid experience in most games, but this is really bad.

well you can't just run to save a downed teammate. you have to be smart about it. it's extremely common to use a downed person as bait for the other team.

What's there to hate? Would you rather have the game be laggy and glitchy?? lol. If you're new, the game definitely has a little bit of a learning curve. You can't play it like any other fps/3rdps. One rule remains though, positioning is key. You can't just run at the enemy. It's good to hold the areas with the big guns, getting to the frags is nice as well. It's better to gun down the enemy with your teammates, than to go in alone and get gunned down by the enemy.

Personally, I've been rolling with the retro and saw'd off. I feel that I can compete at short/mid via the retro, and the sawed off is pretty much cheese at point blank range. For the long range game the hammerburst is nice, but often times while you're trying to gun someone down with it, you put yourself at risk of getting your head popped off by a good sniper.

It's just boring to me, maybe CoD has ruined it. I really liked Gears 1 but didn't play 2 because of the lag, so it's been years since I played MP like this. I think it's dumb that people can be completely behind cover, see you coming and just shotgun around the corner for an instakill. I also don't like the fact that I can empty half a clip into someone and they can just flip away and recover.

honestly i look at gears as more of a strategy game than an actual shooter, some for reasons you explained above. it is a bad strategy to walk blindly around a corner where you KNOW someone may be waiting with a shotgun.

you can have the best accuracy in the game, but if you are getting outsmarted by a team, your accuracy won't matter at all. teamwork and strategies in this game are key.

totally can get why people don't like it for that reason, and reasons you explained above, but to me this game is more of a strategy/smarts game than it is a shooter.

EDIT:

also, the person in cover, if on a corner/edge, they are visible to the other people, IF they are right at the edge. if they aren't right at the edge they aren't visible. but if you aren't at the edge, you can't press L and pop out around the corner and fire quickly.

Really trying to not buy this but my impulse control is taking over. I'm already playing a couple of games and Dark Souls comes out in a week and a half and that will have my soul for a few hundred hours. I love the gears single player though.

redbox it. you can plow through campaign mode in a couple days.

Horde mode is great...can't stop playing it. I wish people would stop buying multiple command posts though and just fortify one...the money gets too spread out.

So true, and learn to PERFECT RELOAD your gun please, will YOUUUU???????

Top ten game, all time. Best 3rd person shooter ever made. Thanks for the thread Queasy @_@

not sure where all the disappointment is coming from, but I LOVE this game. maybe its the fact that I just finished Dead Island and this is a better experience by far. Just wish more people used the mic.

havn;t even played campaign yet. I've been doing the Horde mode thing.

Having the host quit at like level 30 on Horde is really starting to piss me off. Also, if someone leaves, why can't you invite a friend to take their spot ? How hard could that possibly be to code?
