OFFICIAL Game Swap Thread

Now I know a lot of the people who are on this forum have been around here a long time. I know we've also done our fair share of buying and selling on here (atleast I know I have :)) and we have heatware to back it up.

So i thought ... why don't we have some kind of official game swap thread in the console forum?

By gameswap I am just talking about basically 2 people agreeing to trade games they have purchased and no longer want. It could be temporarily or it could be permanent, it's just up to the people who are making the deal.

I personally know there are a lot of people on these forums who are up in the air about games or just uncertain if they want to buy them, but then other people on the forum have them as well who maybe are up in the air about a game that the other person may have. This would be the perfect example.

So I guess I'll throw out what I have right now to get it started. Maybe the mods can sticky this or they can remove it if this is not appropriate.

I actually only have PS3 games that I would like to trade for others potentially.

- Motorstorm
- Resistance

I'm looking to check out Heavenly Sword pretty much for now. I also have Ratchet and Clank, but I haven't had time to finish it yet but I would probably be willing to trade it for uncharted in a month or so.

If this thread catches on and becomes a sticky or something, I'll format it better and add links to everyones heatware for the people who want to contribute.

I like the idea, and think there's at least one website dedicated to this exact thing. I'll post stuff if I decide I don't want any of my games for a while ;)

Yah I saw some site about it but this way it seems like it could be a smaller distinct group of people who have been talking to eachother for years :)

I was just going to say, Sochl would be a nice way of listing your collections and indicating what is and is not available for trade (which currently can be done). Although I suppose to some extent this would then eliminate the need for such a thread on ATCG.

Sounds like...a cross trade! Never heard of that though...

We actually had a 3 way trade a while ago, I got 2 people together and sent Saints Row to guy A who sent Gears of War to guy B who sent Oblivion to me. Worked perfectly. Just have to rely on the honor system.

I think it is a good idea, especially after getting raked over the coals yesterday when I traded in DOA4 and Crackdown.

Yep, the status is already there. It would be easy enough to just throw together a simple page that lists out everyone's FS/FT titles in a list to keep it organized enough... more features would have to come later though.

Let me know if you guys want me to write the page up and I'll take a look this weekend.

I always thought that this would be the strongest aspect of Gamers Pouch before you abandoned it/blew your knee out :). A site dedicated to listing personal game inventories and selling/trading games, IMO, would become hugely popular if the online software and interface was done right.

I would definitely be down for something like this, but likely only on a temporary basis for me. (Like back in school :D)

The idea of having Heat/eBay refs that we can use also makes it that much better.

I have a ton of stuff that I'm not even playing, but I usually hang on to the stuff I buy as I only really buy it if I plan on keeping it (save for maybe PGR4 and Orange Box, which were more impulse than anything).

Alrighty, I'll look to throw some pre-lim page up this weekend (maybe even this evening). In the meantime, so I have some data to work with, head over there now and enter your collections, marking whatever games you want as FS/FT or FS or FT.

Just to get something out there, I put together The Market section of Sochl. Its just a simple list of games that people have marked for sale, or trade, or both... who marked them that way, and the platform they're on. More features will come for it, but I figured that's good for now.

edit: oh, and if the nav looks a little wacky for you, clear your cache, I had to update the stylesheet.

That looks cool Modeps, I look forward to the future of that feature.

I added integration with the game pages (to show that its avaialble) and your wishlist as well, so if you've got a game in your wishlist, that is available by a user in the market, you'll see that as well. Hopefully it'll be something people can use. Tough to see right now with the lack of data, but its there :)

edit: for the heatware link in peoples' profiles... please note its gotta be a full URL. From what I can tell, you cant straight up link to someone's username, you need an ID. Unless someone else knows of a way so I can work that in, you should put your full heatware link in there.
