Whats up you monkeys!

I think now is the time to decide and vote for your choice of the game that you enjoyed the most this year. I've added a list of some of the great games, but there might be some left out. Let me know and I'll add it to the poll.

In your post, please list what game you voted for, and why you think its so incredible!

My vote goes to:

HALF LIFE 2!

I can honestly say, in my opinion, that this game was worth the wait. I've beaten the game 2 times now, and am working on beating it a 3rd time. I loved the GFX, the physics didnt feel gimmicky, the voice acting was top notch, the soundfx were sport on, and the music was perfect!!

What about you guys!

*1st edit*
Added Rome: Total War

*2nd edit*
Added Chronicles of Riddick

*3rd edit*
Added Vampire The Masqeurade: Bloodlines

I haven't played many of the games in the poll, but of those that I did play I enjoyed Painkiller the most. I love insane shooters.

I've played about half of those, and know enough about the other half to make a reasonable judgement.

First, I'll say I voted half-life 2. I have to say that it's done a lot of neat things that I like. And it looks so sweet. It's been a lot of fun while I've been playing it, plus CS:S is one of the best MP FPS's I've played in a while.

I'd like to give Burnout 3 honorable mention. I haven't played it, but from playing the previous ones and reading reviews from friends, I'm sure it's awesome. However, if I were to put a racing game up there, it wouldn't be Burnout. I would put NFSU2. It's the best racing game on the PC, and probably the best street racing game ever made. I don't keep up with console racers anymore, although if Forza is out yet, that looked real hot when I saw it at a show.

Doom 3. I would have voted it the worst game of the year. The game was shit, and I don't think much of the engine either. Game guru for Maximum PC called it nothing more than a tech demo, and even that was being nice. ID makes crappy games.

GTA:SA. It's the same old shit. How can people keep playing it?!?

"ID makes crappy games?"

I can see this thread is going to get a little hot...

PainKiller shouldnt be on that list. IMO.

I've played Rome Total War more this year than any other game.

But to be fair to the list, I would pick Half Life 2. GTA:SA a near 2nd.

I think Painkiller should be on the list more than Doom 3. Painkiller is still installed on my machine, Doom 3 won't ever be installed again.

*sigh*

Out of all those games listed, I've only played Doom3. :(

I'm getting HL2, though! I promise! :)

havent played hl2, but fps are been there done that.

i voted for burnout 3 cuz it is a blast. it looks amazing and its really easy to pick up. the sense of speed is great. and you get to knock cars off the road, thats fantastic!

i think i liked burnout 3 the most because it is a refreshing change. and i liked the music =)

FPS's are been there done that but you vote for burnout? Aren't racing games twice as old as FPS's? Maybe you need to start playing FPS's again...

I'm thinking about picking that title up. I've heard nothing but good about it.

Out of all the great games listed, HL2 came down with my vote. I loved me some Halo 2 before HL2 came out, but I tried going back to Halo 2 after playing HL2, and I just couldn't do it. I find that odd, and I'm not dogging Halo 2 in any way, but I guess I just preferred the visuals and tight control to Halo 2.

It's not fair to have to pick just one, so I won't:

FPS: Farcry (sorry HL2 fans, Farcry has gotten more of my play time)
Console: Halo2
Everything else: WoW (which got my vote as I could only vote for one, this one will keep me happy for a long long time)

I'm going with WoW. I have only played a few of the games listed but by far this is the most fun and addicting game i've ever played. (I haven't tried Half-Life 2 yet though).

While a great game, I'm suprised that HL2 is running away with the votes. I figured that it would be somewhat close between HL2 and WOW, but it's not that way right now.

I voted for Far Cry. Never seen anything as graphically beautiful, also good physics and non-linear gameplay allowing for various strategy/tactics.

Haven't played HL2, but if it's like the original I won't vote for it for GOTY.

I put Painkiller up there, yeah it's a mindless shooter but I liked the environment, music, weapons and artwork (buildings & bosses).

From what I hear, Chronicles of Riddick may be worth voting. But I haven't gotten it YET. Looking forward to it.

KOTOR 2 isn't even out yet for PCs AFAIK..

RTW, played the demo. Kinda "yawn". But I have doubts the demo does the full game justice.

Doom 3, no I didn't find it too dark etc. Just too linear and repitious for me to really really enjoy. Did like the gfx and monsters though.

Fern

EDIT: Although not listed , I like UT2k4 too.

:p But my vote goes towards HL2 for its super-realistic physics engine, allowing you to exploit the physics engine outside your the door, without exposing yourself to the harmful, harmful sun.
