FW158.18 also has a Vista 64 bit version
Vista 64 bit driver

Please note that the above drivers only support G8x - owners of earlier nvidia cards should use the leaked FW165.01 instead (see below)

Post updated: FW165.01 has also been leaked in several OS flavors.

XP 32 bit
Vista 32 bit
Vista 64 bit

It should support most recent nvidia graphics adapters.

FW 158.16 has made its way onto the 'net. These are rumored to be the g84/86 release drivers (or very close to them).

Apparently the source fog bug is fixed in this release.

Those who think nvidia isn't working hard on drivers presently would be well advised to take careful note of the version number.

hey, I thought it was the source engine's fault ;)

It is the source engines fault, but Valve apparently aren't interested in fixing it (probably want a $5 million nvidia "donation" to Gabe's donut fund before writing something card specific...), so nvidia has had to do it for them.

I didn't think that NV had to work on the drivers. I thought you told us that NV already had drivers but were just holding back until the competitive advantage was there to release them.

I also said they were constantly improving them (despite improved drivers not necessarily being leaked or released).

haha. i love how Gstanfor can give us something really nice (leaked drivers) and then go ahead and ruin his image by his comments.
Gstanfor you really really need to learn rhetoric.

Seeing as they're working hard on just getting a working 100-series driver... I would be VERY leary of a leaked driver with a revision jump of 50. If it is legit, have fun. If not, enjoy ruining at the very least your OS install.

I wouldnt be suprised if they made the version jump because it was a significant rework of the older driver.

158? WTF! That seems a little hard to believe, but I guess this is good news for me!

You guys have been complaining for months about the lack of driver releases, so I think the jump from 104 to 158 is not surprising.

Just because they havent released any of those in between drivers, doesnt mean they dont exist in Nvidia's lab. They probably withheld them because they know they weren't up to snuff.

I guess...but don't drivers 1-90something cover the original geforce all the way up to the 7 series? Its kind of surprising to see 60 version points over one product generation, given the past precident.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they were actually doing something all this time and look forward to trying them out...but it seems a little weird that that is the version number. But a name is just a name.

Well, my comment is pure conjecture.

Can someone end this debate by actually trying them please?

Image? I'm sorry, but Gstanfor's image has nowhere to go but up. It was nice of him to point out the drivers, but unfortunately, he doesn't seem to be able to hold the bile in check. And it always shows up no matter what the topic is. Maybe someday, he will grow out of it. ::crosses fingers::

That is seriously a big jump in a driver version. Somehow though, I don't think there have been 50 versions in between the last leaked driver and this one. Unless they screwed up 50 times in a row, which I doubt.

I'd check it out, but thats not what I'm paid to test here at work. :p

What I don't get is, why were there never any betas floating around for this if it wasn't up to snuff. The few 100 series for XP were a b|tch to get at as well. Has nvidia really been holding out on us for some reason? The only reason I can think of that kind of makes sense is that they were waiting for ATi to make a move to release these...hoping it would be to late for them to counter? But even that seems like a pretty stupid reason, given all the bad press they've been receiving lately.

One things for sure, its strategically timed to some extent. With ATi parts set to come out soon, it'd make sense to have these in reviewers hands...with their presumed performance improvements, for when they start doing cmoparison reviews.

Please tell me LCD flat panel scaling works with these? Not having it available in XP32 on my 8800 is killing me (because I want to play CS 1.6 and DOD 1.3 - 1998 HL1 engine games on my brand new computer, insane I know).

Now if it wasn't only 3DMark scores that increased....then it would be worth it to switch drivers. I had a bitch of a time trying to go to some of the 100 series drivers. Nothing worked and even got BSODs so I went back to my 97.92 driver.

Honestly, I have never had so much trouble with drivers before. For ATI cards I've had a Rage 128 AIW, 9600XT, X800XL, and an X1800XL...never had driver problems (was using mostly Omega drivers). For NVidia cards I've only had a Geforce 2 MX400 and VERY briefly a 7900GTO, then the 8800GTS, which has had loads of problems with drivers. Guess it's just my luck but I even had troubles with my Geforce 2, and the 7900GTO I didn't have long enough (only 1 month) to run into anything.

Any other bug fixes, because I for one, have already played all my source games to death. ;)

Yep- they cured the Crysis Demo texture shimmering.:p

Anyway, someone try these out and maybe a few benchmarks? I'd do it but I just recently installed my trial version XP64 Pro.(Just my luck/timing).

Ever heard of a little utility by the name of Symantec Ghost.

My My, someone must have p!ssed in the fanatics wheeties big time recently, judging by the comments in this thread so far...
