A note to all owners:

Please DO NOT update the BIOS to P39 which stated "From this version , vista is supported."

I have tried it and encountered many errors during setup of Vista 32-bit.
I revert to P34 which is highly stable and fast.
I have just wasted 4hours on the new setup with new P39 BIOS.
Finally, back with BIOS ver P34, I did it in less then an hour.

I will feedback this error to Foxconn Support.

Cheers!

this board seems to be a better version of DS3. Can owners comment on OC ability?
In particular, I'm interested in the ability to reach 400 MHz with a 6300/6400 on FSB while running 1:1. The ICH8R inclusion is amazing...

I have been considering this Foxconn board or a DS3 to run an e4300 at 3 GHz, so I have been scouring the net for anecdotes.
I found numerous reports of stable overclocking with the DS3 and none for the Foxconn.

Here is a current FOxconn thread about attempting to overclock.
http://forum.foxconnchannel.com/TitleDe...onn+P9657AA-8EKRS2H+overclocking+issue
Some people have tried a hardware modification to affect the FSB on boot up with other motherboards. See http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=498167 to read about this. The Foxconn BIOS might prevent booting in this configuration.

I had hoped that the new 'AB' version, the P9657AB-8EKRS2H, announced recently at CeBIT 2007 would include the feature of supporting 1333 MHZ CPUs (FSB=333MHz) like the recent revisions of Giga-byte's P965 boards, but it does not. Otherwise, I admire the Foxconn PCB layout and features like ICH8R, external SATA and firewire ports of the P9657AA-8EKRS2H. So, the DS3 is currently the superior choice to attempt overclocking.

I did try oc'ing with my 945 3.4GHz CPU @ 3961MHz, FSB @ 233.
It only last for 15mins before the beeps came and the system just shut down

I end up with FSB@211 with CPU at 36xxMHz. Quite stable but the CPU heat is high... @59~65degree Cel
I am looking forward to get a C2D, either 6300 or 6400 or even a 6600, to try out the 1:1 with FSB@400.. The C2D CPUs are cooler, I believe....

Oh... And you need to play around with the DRAM voltage, it does a lot of difference when u o/c.
I had some prob initially even when running both CPU and RAM @ stock. but after I tweak the DRAM voltage, I dare say it never give me any prob so far.

Well I've just spent 4 days attempting to install Vista having first updated to the latest BIOS P41. I then had many problems with the OS hanging or freezing as it reloaded. Somtimes after a hard reset, ie. power off, the OS would load. but then the Intel RAID manager would kick in and take hours verifying the RAID data. Foxconn support insisted it must be a driver problem as my system would always bootup in safe mode. Having now loaded BIOS version P34, everthing works as it should!

Perhaps foxconn support ignored your warning last month about P39 BIOS?
