Official Final Fantasy XII release thread

gamestop called me and said that they're having a midnight launch party for it.

I'm buying the metal-clad collector's edition, btw!

is this the normal CE that GS is selling? or is this a super special CE edition? lmfao

It got a perfect score from a certain game reviewing site in Japan. It was one of the very few games that got a perfect score too! So hell yeah! I'm gettin' this shizzle dizzle!

Hmmm.... Still going to have to get this one... I'd love to play FF7 again--it just looks like arse now though... 🙁

Yeah, I've been trying to start up some old games. I've been switching between Mario64, FF9, and FF7 for the past few days. FF7 is one of my favorite games of all time, but gosh it looks bad.

I'm highly debating buying a PS2 (my last console was a PS1) primarily for FFXII. I have no intention of buying a PS3 in the next 2 years, so it doesn't seem like much of a waste....

Me too. I actually had a PS2 and sold it about 5 months ago. Now I'm thinking of buying one just for FFXII. I can't decide if it's worth it though.

I'm in somewhat the same position, but our PS2's drive died on us *just* as the wife was finishing the last few minutes of DQ8 (it took nearly five minutes for each scene to load, but we did it!).

She still wants to play KH2 some day, and I missed out on SotC and We Love Katamari. She might even be interested in FFX and FFXII (she's played many RPG's, but never a Square one). I know we'll eventually buy another PS2, but I can't decide if FFXII is worth it *right now*.

So this thing won't come out on anything else huh? PC, Wii, 360, PS3? I'd hate to drop $100 on a PS2 just to play Final Fantasy 12.

I have been playing it for about two hours now, but have not really gotten into the game. FFX had a faster start to it. The combat system is different, right now I am a party of one so combat is not that complex yet.

The camera angles need some work...It is free floating with the right analog stick. So far a little to lose on the controls and moving the camera.

To get better attacks, magic, skills you need a licence and a type of skill points. THe skill points you get from killing things and the licences you can buy or win off of the dead creatures.

The opening music is from another FF game and so is the game over music. (Stay away from the t-rex.)

I went to the local futureshop to get it on my way back from school tonight but they were sold out. =( Oh well, not playing it is probably a very good thing as far as my midterm marks are concerned.

I picked it up last night and played for a bit, I guess the jury is still out on the new battle system. It will probably just take some getting used to. Is there a way to block or evade while you are waiting for your action bar to fill back up?

Geezee finished the game a while ago , it was one of the worst Final Fantasy in my own opinion. Loads of Final Fantasy fan weren't so happy about the game and some know to supper elite fanboy like shane @ EGM gave it 8.5. If your new to JRPG then you will like FF12 but if your a dude who has been playing ARPG/JRPG since 1989 then you will not like this game.

Story : 7 ( a alright Story with cool CGI )
Graphic/Sound : 6 (Worst than FF10)
Gameplay : 6 (totally hate the new combat system)
Art : 8 (some good artwork i must say )

Enthusiastic RPG fanboy should get Never Winter Night 2 instead.

Man, I was an enthusiastic FF player awhile back, but I could NOT get into FFX. I am sorry but that popstar boyband ****** was ****** gay. Then FFXI was a MMORPG?!?!? It should have just been FF online or something?

I always loved FFIV, FFVI and FFVII. IV had the 1st decent grphix and epic story. VI had a solid amount of secret items and sidequest type stuff (tight story too) and VII just had a sickass story. but the grphix LOOK LIKE ****** NOW!!! VI looks better!!!!

And of course Square Enix will do the dumb and thing and not remake FFVII. Why would they do that? Its what the fans want... wave that ****** in front of their face and then renig on it. :disgust:

Dragonquest and Ogre Battle series OWNS!!!!

got collectors edition last night for 60 bucks on pure impulse when my friend told me it came out 😀

Klokwyze: don't be so narrow. Each FF has something unique and awesome to itself. You make it sound like everything after 7 was pure B.S. - FF8 was very enjoyable (And actually my favorite because I fell in love with the world and music), FF9 was good and a return to the old school, FFX was definitely NOT popstar if you even played 3 hours into it. Maybe in the demo it could have appeared to be like that....but the game is anything but that and actually deals with some very interesting questions. And FF12 it seems is a MMORPG but offline...but since I haven't played it yet i can't comment 😉 I heard no one likes FF11 here, but that is because the community sucked balls. Most people who I know that played on the Japanese servers or something where they tell me it is a totally different scenario and situation.

The early FFs were very good, and FF3/6 always will hold a special spot (although to be honest I liked Chrono Trigger and Seiken Densetu 3 a lot more over FF2 and FF3...they just barrely edge out FF3/6)...but to sit and have the same thing over and over....bleh

Gosh I hope you can read/speak Japanese and played the import or something...

else you win the award for the fastest fiend of a game EVAR

oh yeah and about FFXII 🙂

Id like to try it out since I havent played a good NEW JRPG in awhile. The gambit thing, story, graffix and lack of random encounters look pretty good.

FFVIII is the most underrated IMO. The amount of things they changed and successfully made work was tight... gunblade, GFs, story, mature graphics... I loved that one and most my friends didn't.

FFIX sucked man... weak story, weak characters, weakass secrets. Yeah they did say return to old school, but it didn't feel old school. Fealt like a dumbed down new school ting... Lack of interesting content.

RPGs golden era was SNES, FFVII blew it up on the console front and then its been like 8 years of clones or people trying to make "old-school" RPGs. Funny thing is I never played that much of Chrono Trigger. But I tried to get into the sequel.... lol that ****** sucked!!!
