So it just goes back and forth like this every two years? R,D,R,D,R?

<Knows nothing, trying to learn
Democrats have been in power in the House/Senate since 2006 iirc.

it's typical for the president's party to lose seats in the first mid-term into his term, though.

on a side note, though, when was the last time we had the house and senate being controlled by different parties? I can't remember an instance.

Not quite

The country went all Republican for 6 years from 2002 to 2008, when Bush/Rove did the most damage with their America hating agenda.

Rove pumped $3 billion into this election and they have their America hating control back except for the President spot until 2012.
It was only all Republican from 2002 to 2004.

2004 had The Democrats back in power in Congress.

CNN calling Nevada for Senator Reid (D).

The Tea Party Express deserves full credit for holding Delaware and Nevada for the Democrats.

It looks like Brown will be the next Governor of California. I don't care for Whitman, but at least she once had a real job. Moonbeam has been feeding at the public trough his entire life.

Correct me if I am wrong...

But I think Reagan's first two years in office is the last time a party held the Presidency and the Senate, but not the house.

The Dem's holding the Senate really hurts Obama come 2012 because he can't triangulate like Clinton did and he can't blame congress for anything since the Republicans only have a little control of the government.

The next two years will most likely be a total mess and there is a very good chance Obama faces a challenger and that leads to the Republicans taking total control in 2012.

It looks like this is partially purely a reporting error.

At least on CNN's site, its claiming Ken Buck is suddenly leading in Boulder 52 to 45% with 82% in. This is a clearly impossible result which doesn't even reflect the breakdown from earlier this night for the record.

I'm assuming that no-one is dumb enough to have though they could have pulled off this massive a fraud in Boulder in Buck's favor, so I'm assuming what happened is the number got called in improperly or was misheard, and this will get fixed shortly so Bennet has a substantial lead in Boulder again.

Edit: Its now fixed with Bennet leading Buck 67% to 29% in Boulder with only 59% of the vote in. This also impacted the statewide totals.
