As not to take away from the Bush/Cheney discussion which is already discussing different topics, i thought i'd start a new thread to see what you guys think will go down tonight in the VP debate.

This debate will be interesting for me because of my staunch support of Edwards during the primaries and he has been accused of being a lame duck this election. He will try to prove his public appeal this debate, but expect Cheney to come out swinging.

Debate is in Cleveland Ohio, starts at 9pm est, and should be a good show.

Thoughts? :)

Are most people going to watch this one? What are the ratings like for such things? I just can't imagine it having much of an impact.

If Cheney had a leg to stand on he might have a chance to win but we all know he doesn't. ;) Maybe Cheney will have an outburst and tells Edwards to go fvck himself. This also might be a good time for Cheney to get his death ray completed so he can use it as a last resort.

....then he could get Edwards to sue the doctor that gave him the pacemaker, too.

No, he's against whatever the RNC tells him to be against. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Is that how they talk up there in Ohio, Tom? I am not quite sure how you arrived at that conclusion, but whatever you say, man. "Private property rights?" Ford produced more green Explorers this year, too.

I honestly have no idea what is going to be said.

Seeing how I'm alredy decided, watching is kinda pointless. But I will anyways. I figure Chenny might look like a fool.

Well I Just got done watching it and John Edwards inexperience shines through. Dick Cheney handled him like the greenie he is. John Edwards even interrupted Dick Cheney, and couldn't answer questions in the proper format! John Edwards mixed his facts up several times. Dick Cheney was cool as a cucumber and confident.
John Edwards is exposed as an overambitious lawyer, not qualified even for his Senate position, which he rarely attends to, and not qualified for Vice President or President which he hopes to gain eventually.
Dick Cheney is capable and experienced.

Cheney will undoubtedly Perform better than Bush, but I think Edwards will ultimately come out on top. Cheny can speak eloquently, but is generall Dull and Lifeless(most likely due to his precarious health). Edwards has Youth and Energy on his side and is also quick on his proverbial feet.

Bush Campaign Asks Supports to Flood Web

Ken Mehlman, Mr. Bush's campaign manager, sent out an e-mail message to supporters early this morning.

"Immediately after the debate, visit online polls, chat rooms, and discussion boards and make your voice heard," he said in the note, sent to the six million supporters on the campaign's e-mail list. "People's perceptions are shaped as much by their conversations around the water cooler as by the debates themselves."

The note also exhorted supporters to follow up by writing letters to their local newspapers and by calling in to radio talk shows.

shouldn't they let people make up their own minds? perhaps after the debate? they're already declaring Cheney the winner before the debates have started.

So far I'm not crazy about her questions - they're a little too targeted to each specific candidate, rather than getting into macro policy issues.

Things seem pretty even so far, but Edwards is largely repeating Kerry's bullet points. I like how he's clearly stating there's no Saddam-9/11 connection, and calling Cheney to task for tying the two.

Sort of like the dems did to flood the Presidential debate? Goose - gander and all that jazz.

Oh, and I didn't recieve any such email and I'm on both sides lists;)

Edwards is going to smoke Cheney.

Cheney has nothing to say other than same stupid party line. No ability or comeback to comments by members of his own party that are questioning our planning and the amount of soldiers in Iraq. He thinks ignoring the issues will make them invisible.
