I feel like all of the classes on normal mid game melt faces. I hear from you guys the monk destroying people, the wizard, the barb and my witch doctor right now at 23 runs through and fire bat face rape everything with all my summons.

To me it seems like a badly incompetent management problem.

SUP! Played with your ass yesterday!

I disagree. I don't think ANYBODY can predict exactly what will happen when MILLIONS of people ALL OF A SUDDEN log in and try to do things... 50,000 is a lot of connects... 500,000 is a rediculous amount of people connecting at once... we're talking millions here!!

I don't care how beefy your servers are, I doubt this is a hardware problem.......

Diablo 3 is an online multiplayer game where you can choose to not allow people to play with you. How difficult is this to understand? It's not an offline single player game.

Wonder if that excuse would have worked for some of Ubisoft's games. Wonder why they only announced the online only requirement 9 months before release when it had already been in development for 6+ years.

That is simply an excuse from Blizzard to justify what they knew some people would not easily swallow.

Their game, their decision...but the backlash is certainly justified.

If those Ubisoft games were integrated with drop in/drop out multiplayer, then I bet they would. Considering almost all of those games are marketed as and can only be played as single player games is where the difference lies.

You're grasping

Guess I don't understand this one...

Meh, not really. It's an online game, so it requires an Internet connection. If people don't agree with that they can play other games and wait for Torchlight 2 if they desire the genre.

still muddling through!

is the camera angle adjustable? it's driving me insane... but I never played any of the earlier Diablo games, so I don't know if it's just something I need to get used to.

It doesn't have to be an online only game though. Online only is DRM...it protects against pirating, it protects against cheating, but it is still DRM. Blizzard could have developed this game to have an offline mode, they chose not to.

They also could have mass produced twinkies and stuffed them in the boxes, but they chose not to. What is your point?

I guess WOW being online only is DRM too then. Same with LOTRO, DCUO, SWTOR, TERA, GW, GW2 etc...

Actually, GW is a GREAT example of a similar game. How come no one has bitched about GW being online only? It's essentially the same, except instead of public game access, you have instanced lobbies.

I like the game so far (wait til MIN. lvl 10, the game is entirely different, better then) - but yes, i ALWAYS want to zoom in/out with the mouse-wheel and the fact i cant is driving me insane. I hate being restricted to the two zoom levels.

Working in IT, I can say that even when you're ready to go live, you'll never be able to expect everything. Why is everyone so bent out of shape? Did no one expect this to happen? The major release for an MMO that millions will play and everyone expected it to go 100% smooth? Heaven forbid it's out for 2 days and they decide to have a quick reboot in the morning to fix a few things.

You guys need better things to bitch about, or at least go watch this:

I've seen it go both ways, poor planning usually the culprit when it goes bad. This is what beta testing is for.

In the long wrong, who really gives a shit, right? Is my life forever scarred? Hardly. And I'll continue to play when I can.

because that's retarded.

I for one love diablo 3. Its pretty much everything I wanted it to be, and while theyve had problems, I'm enjoying the game so much that as long as they get them fixed, I don't have a huge problem with it. I played diablo 2 for six years, and these few hours they've been down will be nothing given the lifespan of the game's entertainment.

THIS BEING SAID; Does anybody have any trial keys they could send me? I just need one for a friend since I bought a digital download copy, but I heard the boxed editions came with the trial codes.

While the "launch problems" are a non-issue to me, I gotta admit their beta testing method was a little wonky. From the beginning they officially stated the beta test was for testing battle.net and not the game per se, but they ended up receiving a lot of bug reports and feedback that they took action against. But all in all I'm impressed that it wasn't worse.

How is the server issue right now? Day 2 after launch, nerds still raging?

when do nerds stop raging? As for the servers, if you have the game log on and see for yourself. I've logged 8 hours play time and have had no issues, minus release day. A few friends of mine have been playing none stop for the last 1 1/2 days and have had no issues. Hopefully it will still be going strong come weekend.

Actually, check your pings because they seem to be a bit on the high side since yesterday(The latency scale is to the left of the mana/arcane orb on the right of the hud). A lot of people on the bnet forums complaining. I know my ping was varying between 300-600 last night. I live about an hour from the servers and I still get some fairly high pings like 80-150's. Normally I sat around 20-30 ping in Diablo2.

I have a feeling they are working on the servers and/or may have some of them offline which is causing greater load on the remaining. But ya, the servers are definitely laggier than you would expect. I cant imagine what others are pinging when im at 80-100 being close to the servers.

I don't mind the online requirement... but it's kind of annoying to have to login just to play a single player game (not to mention fish out my authenticator)
