i donno whether this has been posted before, but there are some people out there who claim to have finished the game in 7 hours.

WHat in God's name? 10 years of development and all you get is 7 hours of single player gameplay? Hmm...my copy is on the way and i hope Asia doesnt have any latency/lag issues like you guys do. And internet lag during single player is just criminal. Feel sad for people who might have upgraded their gpus for D3 to get fps lag free performance and live in an area where there is crappy internet quality. may God be with them.
 
And aren't you guys getting a sense of deja vu here? Remember the week vanilla WOW released? it was a nightmare beyond comprehension.

Looks like it was 4 people on co-op that probably did a speed run.

You could run through Diablo 1 and two just as quick
 
I played for 3 hours and I am only level 15 and on Act 1 so I don't know how those guys got through the game in 7 hours.
 
It's like Diablo 2... I could run normal in 2 hours from scratch with a good group easily, and in 15 minutes with a lv 85 Sorc.

If you just run through D3, I can easily see it being done in 7 hours.

I agree. Was most likely a speed run.

There is a price though... you sacrifice those tidbits of stories and lore. Even back in D1, I would read every tome and talk to every character and it enriched my gaming experience as a result.

I've probably got about 4 hours in total, and I'm level 12 or so. If you take your time and have fun rather than just zerg rush along not paying attention to anything it should take far far far longer than 7 hours.

And yes, you could zerg rush D1 or D2 in a variety of ways, but I think starting out with that play style is lame. I might go back and try a speedrun after I've gotten to sit back and enjoy it at a leisurely pace the first time through.

Ahh yes. Thank u. That is why my games usually last long. Attention to detail. Too much attention to detail in certain cases.

I mean, I played around 5 hours today. Got to level 15 and just started Act 2. And I was NOT listening carefully to all the dialogue and talking to all the townspeople.
 
Why would 7 hours be a surprise? There are achievements to beat each act within 1 hour. If we take that into account, Blizzard expects it to be possible.
 
Can't wait to dive in. Cant play till tomorrow though cos my game won't arrive till then. Fedex has got it to mumbai, but it takes 24 hours for clearance. 🙁

Still can only get into a game with one other person. Never 3 or 4 people in the same game. Anyone else having this issue? Kinda odd, i think maybe once two people get in the same game it becomes unlisted from the public game list.

I am amused at how WoW, these days, is treated like the metric system for gaming.

Swtor: WoW in space
Rift: WoW with better graphics
GW2: WoW with duck, drop and roll
Tera: WoW plus Final Fantasy

Oh well, however similar the analogy may be, at least in terms of quality, it is leagues and miles beyond its film measuring stick counterpart... Twilight. That whole "Underworld sooo copied Twilight" cracks me up everytime. Hahahaha.

Really wish I got your references. Unfortunately I turn 33 this friday and am so disconnected from society I find it better to not even ask.
 
the only thing i'm disappointed with so far is that the skills don't have the damage modifiers listed.

how the hell am i supposed to know which single target and AOE skills i want to use if i dont know how much damage they do relative to each other?
 
Used my friends guest pass last night. Fun game. I also liked Torchlight for mindless killing. I never played any of the previous diablo's. Have a lvl 9 barbarian. Will play all the classes and decide if I want to plop down 60 bucks for the full blown game.

There's a setting to enable advanced skill tooltips (which is disabled by default) in the options menu. This may be what you're looking for.

I finally got a chance to play last night and I got a monk to level 12 and a wizard to level 7. The monk is simply awesome. The wizard, which I thought I'd love... not so much. 🙁

Yup. That's the thing about Diablo, you can play it different ways. When I first played D1 and 2 I sat and watched all the cinematics, followed the lore, etc...

But then you get to the point where you are rushing chars to Hell level just to get gear.

Don't worry, the game will still suck many, many hours out of your life regardless of how you play it 😉

You have to signup for a year subscription and then you get Diablo 3 for free.
