My Barb is taking a bit to gear as nothing is really dropping for me. This has started to become annoying as I am PL 56 now.

At 100, I am rolling with a DH or a Wiz.
 
RNG bro. It took me 70 p levels to get my 6 set in season 1, 180p levels in season 2. I'm p90 now as barb for s3 and haven't found a single set piece yet for my class. It can take a while, but realistically by p200 you should have a full set.
 
I got a 4 pc firebird, 2 piece tal so far at paragon 70. I'm mostly playing my NS sader though, hit rank 808 last night clearing a 44 in like 12:36.

Probably gonna work on my NS WW barb next, already have most of the gear.

I've had a WD, DH, WIZ, and now Sader in NS solo leaderboards at some point
 
For anyone playing Wizard in Season 3 (or has a wizard non-season, too):

Last season I got my wizard up to paragon 400 or so, with really good equipment (a nearly perfect ancient aether walker helped with T6 speed farming; a perfect ancient shard of hate (that may work well with tal rasha...someday))

I got powerlevelled to 70 last night by a friend, with a few paragon points. Last season at this stage I used all my shards and lucked out - getting a nice mirrorball, and I went magic missile + frozen orb (had quite a bit of + cold quickly) and this lasted until I gambled/found all of my firebird pieces.

Is there a better 'normal gear' - imagine, no legendaries of any kind, build for a wizard? I want to - of course - farm as fast as possible to gear up.

Any starting gear tips? I'm wondering how to optimize the progression this time, without presuming I'll luck out and get a mirrorball quickly.

If you're on EU servers (looking at you, cappuccino) I'm happy to go crazy starting tomorrow night - I really want to push this season and try to perfect a rift climbing tal rasha set, go into the 50s and level the gems as fast as possible.

RNG is just mean sometimes. In season 2, I toiled in T1-T4 for over a week on my monk because I couldn't get my last Sunwuko piece for the bonus. I probably found the other sets two times over before finally getting three Sunwuko pieces. I was paragon 80-something when that third piece dropped.

In season 3 I got a Furnace that rolled with a socket from a level 1 greater rift on a barbarian with maybe 20 paragon levels. I wanted to do a whirlwind build, but I got Raekor's pieces first, so with that furnace and full Raekor's I was chewing through T6 by Sunday morning. Got a RoRG on one of my first T2 caches. I got a gift already too, but I'm saving that for an ancient weapon. One more piece of the Wastes set and I can try Whirlwind builds, or if I find Vile Ward I can start doing mid 30's grifts to level more gems.

Well, the moment I get a second gift I'll probably use it. I just don't want to be without a gift in case a really nice ancient drops - because RNG might make me wait a while for that second gift to come around.
 
Unless it's a really good ancient that's a specific weapon that has good synergy with your build, non-ancient Furnace is almost always better simply due to the obscene amount of bonus damage to elites, which is far more important for a Barbarian because their single-target damage against rift guardians is weaker than other classes and their trash clear is already insanely good so the extra base damage doesn't add much compared to the the elite damage.
 
Well, I'm playing a season DH, only up to about paragon 80, and I've already found 5 pieces of the Unhallowed Essence set and a crappy RORG. Gotta say, that set is pretty good. Right now I can comfortably clear t5 and may be able to handle t6, despite not having the best items. Gotta say that the dev team has done a pretty good job making the legendaries more enjoyable. The Nagelring is a lot of fun, literally and figuratively a blast. The DML quiver also pairs nicely with the new set. It may not top M6, but is a viable alternative.
 
Oh.. 400 should be cake.

I juuuuust missed a solo 47 grift today, I definitely have 47+ in my crusader if I can get better at moving, I die too much.

Anyone else wanna run high grifts nonseason lemme know. 50+
 
I'll likely be back to NS shortly. I just really wanted to play with a zodiac ring for a bit; not sure if I'm going to play seasons full time this round.

I'm less worried about the achievement points. Assuming the guy leveling you is fine with doing this.

Go kill some bosses first. Skeleton King, Kulle, Maghda, Belial, and Azmodan. All really easy to get to, and the leveler will clear them out in ~3 seconds, giving you about a half dozen achievements for each.

Kill, Kill fast on Torment, ~3 challenges, and the coop achievement. I just listed 5 bosses, so ~30 achievements total. Getting to 70 is worth at least 100 points. So, with help, you can probably get all the points and leveled to 70 in under an hour. Throw in bounties that are events with achievements for completion and coop completion, 400 achievement points are nothing.
 
I got my 5th piece of the Wastes set last night to get the full bonus, and the overall damage compared to full Raikor's sans Vile Ward is big. Furious Charge still has a slight edge for clearing to the guardian, but it's at the guardian where the Wastes set pulls away. It'll be even more apparent when I can replace the Furnace I'm using with BK swords for T6, and IK weapon for grifts.

The play style is more suited to me too, as I've never been in love with the zigzagging FC ripping all across the screen.

I either need to get the rest of wastes and the IK weapon and gloves, or a second unity right now. Both scenarios also need a great amulet with a socket. Probably time to start seriously farming for hellfire.

If I at least get IK gloves, I can put my hexing pants on. Squishiness gets offset by faster killing.

At some point, either BK or Furnace would be great. Maximus is doing alright, but I'm physical, not fire.

Stuck in the 31-33/4 range right now.

With all the dust devils that I do have flying around, is Pain Enhancer preferred over BotT? Taeguk seems like a lock, it's my second gem I'm starting to question (currently Pain Enhancer).

EDIT: Got IK gloves and ancient furnace(!)(minimum roll on +elite, though). With hexing pants, I can get up to 3.4M sheet, usually hovering around 2.7M. Still fairly squishy at high grifts (even with striding giant placed in for insanity), but when spinning away the dust devils do a much better job at cleaning up now. Clearing 33 in about 7 minutes, haven't tried 34 or 35 yet. Pretty sure I can't handle the 37 stone upgrade.

I wanna start setting up groups for 50+ grifts. Paulisio and I cleared a 50 with a few minutes to spare. Cleared a 47 solo too.
 
Do we have a bunch of max level in season already? Looks like I may finally have a bit of free time this weekend and will probably start a DH.

I might be willing to give it a go, if I'm geared enough on any of my characters. I have a Kridershot(non-ancient)/UE DH that solo'd a lvl 42 GR. I'd like to see what he can do in a group setting, if it's a good match for the other people playing.
 
I'll be interested in this when I get around to getting my WD more geared for zdps. I have an ancient tiki, but I can't hold perma-cc, nor can I do perma BBV.

EDIT: Or get any toon capable of running high 40's solo.
