just re-read your post..thanks for pointing that out.heh. You mention that PCIe videocard might be a problem with Zalman 7000 or 7700, as long as it doesn't have an "abnormal cooling solution". I will be mounting a 700-AlCu on my 6600GT PCIe card.. Is this considering abnormal? (in other words, will a zalman 7700 work with a PCIe video card that has a Zalman 700 cooler?

Hmmm; I'm thinking of using a Zalman 7000 myself. Maybr I'd better wait until someone post yea or nay.

And ZZF has raised their price to $167.

I predict this MB will be unobtainable for less than $195 by the end of next week.

Man, I hope I didn't make a mistake in not ordering sooner. Just gotta gut it out, don't plan on upgrading until I really need to which should be in about a month. Hopefully supply is decent and things settle down.

actually aftermarket will fit on the chipset. One of the guys there got a warped board (dont remeber his name) and didnt realise that was why his card hit the fan. But I saw a pic of a different cooler on his so I suppose he put it on.

Monarchcomputer.com just got theirs in. I don't know when it will be on the website, but should definitely show by Monday. No tax in CA and shipping was around $6 ground for me.

The guy I ordered from said they just got them in late this afternoon. A sales rep I spoke to later said it's not in stock yet, but I am pretty sure it's just not in their computers yet.

You can definitely email them and ask them to reserve you one or see about preordering it.

i hate fedex......ups is SOO much faster. Im sure somone will disagree with that statement but its true....i wont get my board till monday because fedex NEVER delivers on saterday unless its overnite delivery....NOT standard overnite just plain old overnight. One costs about 20 more than the other.....so, i have an XP-120 on my A8N-SLI and i will solve it once and for all even though its already been solved, ill confirm it. I have OCZ El Platinum Rev.2 2x512 with crome heatspreaders and im putting my memory in slots 2 and 4 period. If i have to shave anything off my heatsink to do it i will, though i dont think i will at all, ill let everyone know for sure on monday.

THREE DFI NF4 boards are now listed on Monarch, for $149 (Ultra D), $189 (SLI-D), and $219 (SLI-DR) (these prices do not include shipping):

Well I just ordered a DFI nF4 Ultra and a Zalman 7700-Cu. These will live with a Leadtek 6600GT video card. We'll see if it all fits.

Got the Ultra-D from Monarch for $156.70 shipped to CA... nice. Saved nearly $25 over ZZF & NewEgg...

good choice. I'm getting the same with a 3000+. Not sure about the 7700Cu. are you sure it will fit? would pure Cu HSF be too heavy?

The only reason I'm considering the SLI-DR is for the onboard RAID5 capabilities.. I see future use for this by being able to hook up a bank of external SATA drives for a huge amount of reliable storage.

Question about this though: Any drawbacks of relying on onboard RAID5 vs. standalone RAID-5 PCI card? If the motherboard fails in 3 years, am I required to get the same motherboard in order to use my HDs? I don't know much about RAID5 compatability across manufacturers.

just go pick it up tomorrow at the Fedex store. no need to complain to us when all you have to do is drive yourself over there. Not to mention UPS doesnt deliver on sat nor are their offices open. or at least here in GA their not

I would get a real RAID 5 controller card, one that does real XOR and has a RAM slot for buffer. The RAID 5 that the SIL3114 controller does is crappy soft-raid. It'll work, but you wont see the same performance as a true RAID card.

hehe; Same here, but a 3500+. Haven't gotten a heat sink yet. Was looking at the 7000, but saw a theread where it may interfer with the video card because of the central socket placement. I'll be very interested to see if the 7700 will actuall fit on this.

bear in mind that anandtech's mid-range choice of case antec slk 3000b which has a tube that is supposed to get over the processor so the fan can draw air directly from outside is a pretty much useless feature for dfi because the dfi's proc place is located elsewhere.pretty good case nonetheless.I thought that maybe some ppl would like to know about it though:)

Got my board from ZZF today and FedEx beat it up pretty good. The pins for all of the power switches and stuff are all bent. The onboard power switch is smashed and there are loose springs all over. My new video card was in the same shape. I was really looking forward to setting this up tonight.
