I've been pondering this idea for a good while. The idea of having a thread just for swapping of parts--much like a combination of the FS/T forum and the freebies thread--but here in Distributed Computing. I know lots of people have extra parts, and there all comes a time when we need a part or two.

So what do ya'll think about trying this out over here? If there is an interest in this sort of thing, I'll check with the higher ups to make sure it is okay to do here.

Case in point.

Great, I voted yes.

I even thought about creating a DC trading thread yesterday evening because I have a lot of spare parts, but need other stuff (PCI VGA cards)

I think it's a great idea!

I would suggest that any person participating in that particular thread should be required to have a link in their post(s) which points to their stats showing they are really active to ensure this is limited to TeAm AnandTech crunchers. All others can use the existing FS/T threads.

I would also like to circumvent the traditional rules of the existing FS/T threads, allowing 'make best offer' and also allowing for no existing ratings as a seller or buyer. This should be a trust based thread since we are limiting participation to our own folks only.

I agree with Insidious: they must be active crunchers on our team.

I do think we can trust our little community here without ratings, since we're no strangers, we've all been crunching and watching stats for months, even years!

Yes, there would be rules set forth for participation. Must be a cruncher, and able to validate it (it stats or something). And HEAT would be encouraged (but not required). And I have an idea on how to setup the items so that it will be easy to navigate, etc. I've been working on this in my head for quite a while, and a development project at work gave me the idea on how to organize it.

OMG, that is what I need!! I've been looking on newegg for PCI or PCIe x 1 video cards, and the PCIex1 video cards are $100. :| I have seriously considering trying to boot my server without a video card, but I don't know if it would boot or not.

If you two are carrying those calculators on your belt, I'm just not going to be able to let myself be seen with you!

If they don't go for it here, may we could make one over at teamanandtech.net?
