****OFFICIAL & CONFIRMED**** I am stupider now then when I graduated high school. BUT I GOT BETTER!!!!!!

I took the GMAT today and I scored in the low 500s. This is after 5 years of college and about 8 months of working. When I took the SATs in high school I scored 1150 (640 math 510 verbal). By my estimates I should have broken 600. If I took the GMAT in HS right after I took the SATs I would have had something like a 575.

Bottom line: I should have scored AT LEAST 570, and that is if I was surfing for porn while doing the test.

I studied about 6 hours total for the GMAT and I did not do any practice tests. This is part of the reason for the low score, but I can not blame it entirely on that. This stuff should be second nature to me. I rescheduled the test for 3/29/03. Until then I will go into seclusion and study as much as I can. This means no reading ATOT. Hell, I've even limiting my COMPUTER use to 1/2 hour a day, excluding doing the GMAT practice test.

This rule is starting on Tuesday.

I also don't need you to tell me how stupid I am or to confirm it. I already know.

UPDATE*********
I GOT A 610 ON THE GMAT!!!!!!!! It's not a 700 but I'll take it.

I felt I could have scored a 640+ if I studied for an additional 10 hours, but why beat a dead horse?

By your estimates you should have broken 600. By your score you did not do well in math. Coincedence? I think not.

The one thing I can completely brag about is my GMAT score. I got a 660 on the first try, after studying over only one weekend. 😀

Being out of school for so long is why I dread the prospect of taking the GMAT. I don't think I've retained much of anything from college and high school. Especially not any of the higher math I took. I haven't had to do complex math since I graduated.

?? I don't know what you're talking about. I just figured that I would have scored 570 base out of HS and then another 30+ points from the 5 years in college.

I didn't give you the breakdown of the score (GMAT)so you should not assume anything.

don't worry about the math. It is mostly sat type questions instead of asking for answers they ask for the reasoning of how you got the answer and questions that have 2 following statements where you have to tell if none, one, or both of the statements are enough to answer the question.

You realize that those tests don't mean anything, right? Teachers look at what is on those tests and teach you accordingly throughout HS.

They decide if I get into the MBA program or not. I don't have that much work experience. I spoke with people from the MBA admissions office at Rutgers. they said With my GPA they would take me with mid to high 5s. Low 5 is only going to get me into the part time program.

I think he is joking that since you didn't do well on the math section, you wouldn't be able to estimate your score

why not work a couple more years and improve your chances?

Because I already negotiated a deal with my job to keep me on as part time over the summer for 2 summers and when I graduate they'll pay me a chunk of change.

I also want to get the MBA while the economy is still down.

Im just f*cken with ya. The joke was that you didnt do well on the math so that it proves that you didnt calculate your score right.

Just more proof that what you learn in High School bears little resemblance to what working people do day to day in their lives beyond high school, that is unless you become a teacher.
