Bah!

The car looks decent but I can't help but think that BMW is wasting an opportunity by re-introducing the 6 series with such a bland exterior. IMO the vertical front end and very short front overhang of the current 3 series should be the defining visual characteristic of BMWs, not "flame styling."

More of a Pontiacesque to it. :disgust:

Add me to the list. It just doesn't have the same elegance as, say, the current generation 3 series. Probably a safe bet that it will be a great driver, though.

It looks like a Porsche 911 Whale Tale from the late 70's from the rear 3/4 view with a dash of Pontiac and crap thrown in for good measure around the frontal area. Doesn't look at all like a BMW.

That's the point. They want a new image for BMW, not the 'same sausage different length' of the previous models. While I don't agree fully (I think the current 5-siers is one of hte best looking BMW), this new 6-series does look nice. Sure it may not be the BMW that we have grown to love...but things will change. Atleast it still looks aggressive.

Of course it looks agressive, they had the 911's design to copy after ;) The only thing about this new car that says BMW is the dog-leg in the rear quarter window.

If I didn't know any better and I saw pics of this car for the first time, I'd say to myself "Why is Pontiac building a high-end coupe?"

If it kept the look and performance but came with the Pontiac price tag... I'd buy one. ;)

I would comment but my ISDN connection over here in Greece blows chuncks! I'll comment once I've seen the PICs.

BMW's new styling is really starting to grow on me. When the Z4 came out I thought that it looked fugly, but now, I Prefer the Z4 to the Z3.

Wow! This is almost the perfect combo of class/style/aggressiveness! At first glance, I saw Ferriari 456 lines, but I can still see some old 6-series physique. The M version will be a complete show stopper - no doubt.

Looks better than it did in earlier pictures but I still hate the overhang over the front lights. Looks a lot like a porsche from the side.

Back when Chris Bangle came on board, he said that one of his gripes with current BMW styling was that all the cars were "the same sausage in different lengths". Guess what, all the new ones look pretty similar too. Except now the sausage is wayyyyy uglier.

I'm on that list too. I don't like it. I still hate the styling of the newest 7-series too. I'm also not a big fan of the new 5-series styling that will be coming out and the Z4 is still weird to me.

I really don't like what BMW is doing.

<fingers crossed that they don't fsck up the 3-series>
