Official confirmation of the death of the BMW 6-speed?

This has created quite a stir over at roadfly.org (BimmerBoards). Most don't think this is accurate info.

I certainly hope it is not. SMG is cool, but no panacea from what I've read. I still think I'd prefer a good slush box any day. But, with the stupid decions BMW has been making lately, it wouldn't surprise me.

This seems like a logical step, I remember reading an article that said that upwards of 90% of M3 buyers opted for the SMG.

Plus I don't think I've read anything negative about SMG (aside from the couple extra thousand $ for that option), granted I don't go around reading too much about this stuff.

THIS IS SH!T!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Refuse to buy a car that DOSENT come with a stick!!!!!!!!!!

takes the fun out of driving

The Paddle shifters are SH!T!!!!

guess this means im not gonna be buyin a BMW EVER again

I don't care. I will never own a BMW, at least not any 2002/2003+ models. Too ugly.
If BMW wants to shoot itself in the foot, more power to them.

?With SMG, you can shift faster and it is better for the engine, the clutch and the transmission,? says Scheibner. ?With the M cars, top performance is the key, and with SMG, it is the top performance.?

I'll take the fun of shifting my own gears over top performance please.
