I just bought COD2 last weekend, and I'm having some weird problems with it. My system has a 4200x2, 2gigs memory, and a 7800gtx card hooked up to a Dell 2001 monitor that I run at 1600x1200. When I first started playing, I couldn't get past basic training where you have to throw "potatoes" through the building. The bathtub and doorway worked, but it wouldn't acknowledge a potatoe through the window, and finally it wouldn't give me any more potatoes! I emailed Activision, and they told me the game has problems with Dual-core CPU's! Then I had another weird problem. A day later I went to play another game, and I had no sound. I have a soundblaster Audigy2 ZX platinum connected to the Creative labs P7800 speaker system, and I thought my toddler had messed with the wires, but no. I had to do a system restore to the point before I installed COD2, and the sound worked again. I then re-installed COD2, and I was able to pass the basic training on a lower resolution setting, but it wouldn't let me pass the exploding building. Nothing would happen even though I have the demo charges in place. Then the sound quit on me again after another day! Another restore fixed it. I don't know what's happening, but it seems game related, but I do get sound in the game when I installed it, but not the next day????. Anyway, Activision tech support is useless, and I'll give up on their games after this one. It is fun to play when it does play, equal to fear, but fear should have left out the kung-fu kicks, and stayed with common keyboard functions.
