How's work today (for those on the East coast that made it in) after watching this marathon? 😀

<--- Just rolled out of bed....eating breakfast right now! 😀

I'm having a hard time keeping my eyes open. I was up another hour after the game taking in all of the highlights and going to my favorite SU message board. I'm CST.

Damn I go to UConn. 🙁

Thank goodness it's friday. I watched it all. Syracuse deserved that win - they simply wanted it more. WV will most likely beat them just becaue they'll be so gassed. It's happened before with PITT - a game a day will wear you out, not to mention this gut buster.

I loved the missed dunks. It's like the players looked at their legs and yelled "WTF is wrong with you! WORK!"

This wasn't even the big east final was it? If not, Syracuse is going to be vulnerable, lol.

Nope, that was a quarterfinal game. Today they have to play West Virginia (about 20 hours after the UConn game ended). If they survive that, they play the winner of the Louisville/Villanova game on Saturday in the final.

Missed OTs 5 & 6; dragged at work this morning. I'm glad I scheduled my afternoon off for today's games.

A game like this raises some NCAA rule questions:
First, am I right that a team can continue playing even if it can no longer field five players due to disqualifications?

Second, let's take this to extremes!!! Assume both teams have held on to where they each has just one player left. Player A scores a basket, giving his team a tie, then fouls Player B, fouling out of the game as he sends Player B to the free throw line. Player B, utterly exhausted from the 158 minutes he's already played, misses both free throws and also manages to lose the ball out-of-bounds. With no player from Team A eligible to throw the ball into play, what do they do?

(Yes, I know it's an absurd question, but in my dazed-but-still-hoops-ready state, I WANT TO KNOW!!!)

If you can't put 5 guys on the court, you lose.

I'd have to score that somewhere near impossible for syracuse to win this tournament then. Not that that should take anything away from their win yesterday.

OK, I went and looked it up. From NCAA Official 2009 Basketball rules, Rule 3, Section 1:
Art. 2. Each team may continue to play with fewer than five players when all
other squad members are not eligible or able to play.
Art. 3. When there is only one player participating for a team, that team shall
forfeit unless the referee believes that both teams have an opportunity to win.
...which also answers my second question, essentially that when the referee decides that, due to disqualifications, one team no longer has a chance to win, he shall decide a forfeit.

Great win by Louisville..Villanova couldn't do anything in the 2nd half.
We'll see if the WVU -8 holds up or not...doubt it

Will be posting video of that shot shortly. 😛. Syracuse is going to be the team to beat in the NCAA Tourney.
