1.01 patch recalled

1.01 will never be a viable patch, as it's been scrapped.

EA to customers:

Do NOT install the 1.01 patch.

Community Update - 7/8/05

HOTFIX for Battlefield 2 v1.01 Coming Soon
First off, a HUGE thanks to all of you who emailed me in regards to the memory leak found in the update we released earlier this week (v1.01). Your emails found their way to our production team and they?re in the process of evaluating what needs to be done in order to get this fixed. In the meantime, and since the 1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, we recommend that you reinstall the game and NOT the v1.01 update we released earlier this week.

Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics. EA and DICE are committed to getting a fix for v1.01 as soon as we possibly can and will continue to keep you informed through this web space in the coming days.

NOTE: If you installed and are running the newer server files (Win and Linux versions) we made available earlier this week, please revert those as well. We found that those files had the same issues with memory leaks as did the v1.01 update. You can download the older versions here.

[EA]Mike

A little late now

What ever happened to the saying "measure twice, cut once"?

I just bought and installed BF2 yesterday... and installed the 1.01 patch. Now it looks like I have to uninstall and reinstall 1.0...

I'd assume they'll have the hotfix out by next Friday at the latest. Rumor is it's coming out Monday.

1.01 is playable.

Personally, I'd rather see them release a roll back patch (to save time reinstalling) or just have 1.02 fix both versions of the game.

The patch caused no issues for a friend and myself, the gameplay is much smoother save for a 2 or 3 second pause/stutter freakout I've had every now and then.

I should get my first promotion the next time I start a game :)

I think the memory leak is just for the server side patch not for the client side. Memory usage on my PC is the same as it was previous to the patch although there are some improvements. I did see the memory leak in action on my BF2 server before I shut it down. I was wondering what was causing a performance drop on my CS: Source servers and when I brought up top I saw an ENORMOUS amount of memory being used for the bf2 process, killed it right then and there.

I patched mine 2 days ago and things were messed up already. Server list wouldn't respond if I try to search by name or etc. Also, half the servers out there have different versions of PunkBuster, so I get kicked within a few minutes :(

Update your Punkbuster

Place in the BF2\pb folder and then run it.

Uncheck "ranked" and "punkbuster", apply filters, "update server list", and the server list should show up.
