Even with Hurricane Sandy causing Google to cancel their press event, they decided to release all the details that had been leaked out over the last month or so.

LG Nexus 4 - Unlocked GSM/HSPA+ starting at $299 for 8GB of storage, and $349 for 16GB of storage:
https://play.google.com/store/devic...wNV9uZXh1c1VTXzFfcHJvbW9fMTM1MTUyODMyNzI1OCJd

T-mobile is also the US launch partner this time around, and is available from them on contract starting at 199:

The Nexus 10 tablet made by Samsung was also made official starting at $399 for 16GB of storage and $499 for 32GB of storage:
https://play.google.com/store/devic...wNV9uZXh1c1VTXzNfcHJvbW9fMTM1MTUyODMyNzI1OCJd

This was initially overlooked by my original post but the Nexus 7 received an update as well. The 8GB Nexus 7 has been retired, and the 16GB version takes its place starting at $199. Now there is also a 32GB storage option for $249, or a 3G modem can be added to bring the price up to $299:

Google has touched on the newest version of Android, 4.2, but still with the Jelly Bean name. This is going to bring multiple users to tablets, and a pretty neat new camera feature named Photo Sphere, it takes panorama pictures to a new level. I'm hoping they will go more in depth about new features of Android 4.2:

Just a general warning that this is now the 'official' Google Nexus Oct. 29th launch thread. Please keep posts on-topic (which is the new devices) and avoid trolling.

Thank you

The LG Nexus 4 seems like a sure thing.

Oddly it seems like Google has the 32GB Nexus 7 ready, but it holding it for this event too. Not sure why this needs an announcement when it's just a capacity increase that many think should have been done from the beginning. I think Google should have just quietly released this without any fanfare since some current Nexus 7 owners are going to be a little annoyed.

I have a hard time believing the Nexus 10 tablet rumors. Seems like we'd have seen some images of this tablet if it's going to be announced in days. So I'm not really expecting it.

Wonder if the Nexus Q will finally be re-announced?

There are other rumored Nexus phones, but none of them seem very substantial at the moment, so I'm not really expecting more than one Nexus phone announcement.

So I guess in short I'm mostly just expecting to hear about the Nexus 4, hopefully some Android 4.2 talk, and perhaps a quick blurb about the Nexus 7 32GB.

Google and Samsung will announce a new 10-inch tablet codenamed "Manta" at its October 29th event, according to The Next Web. If the site's unnamed sources are to be believed the Manta will feature a 10-inch 2560 x 1600 display with an iPad-beating pixel density of around 300ppi. The tablet, which if real will likely be released as the Nexus 10, will reportedly be sold alongside the existing Asus Nexus 7 and new LG Nexus 4 as part of a multi-manufacturer Nexus program. There aren't any further details on the purported Nexus 10; processor and pricing will be key to the tablet's success.

Want. Any rumors on the price, though? Can't imagine that panel is cheap.

Yeah definitely. And given the Chromebook hardware, it shouldn't be hard for Samsung to leverage the Exynos 5 chipset for use in a new tablet. Unfortunately we've had no real rumors leading up to this, so I can't be certain.

If this does happen I'm pretty much sold. I am concerned about the resolution. You do need some serious horsepower to run this thing. Given the lack of GPU acceleration in Android, I would be concerned about lagfests...

They took a step back with no LTE, so I have zero interest in this LG Nexus.

They're not going to sell an unlocked LTE version, they'll leave that to the carriers as LTE isn't standardized like GSM is (kind of anyway).

I believe Verizon didn't release their GNex until December of last year anyway. It's still very possible we'll see carrier branded releases.

That'll always depend on the task at hand. For gaming it's not going to bode well, but I do all of my gaming on my desktop anyway. This would be more of a movie/reading device.

Right. I think this is whether the US carriers are willing to bend down and allow a Nexus device on their networks or whether Google/LG are willing to play ball and customize a Nexus for a certain network. You can thank our carriers and the FCC for working hard to standardize frequencies.

Agreed, and I believe Qualcomm is the only manuf. that makes a chip that can support the convoluted mess that is the US LTE wireless spectrum. Which, if I recall isn't even used in a single device yet, as they only released it sometime this past summer.

I agree, i really wanted LTE but it's supposed to be a world phone. Maybe the Big G didn't want to create separate Nexus variations for ATT/Verizon? I think that's the gotcha right now, carriers are only branding and locking customer to contracts if they want access to their shiny LTE.

Depending on price point, I'll probably get the LG Nexus. I value OS updates over LTE.

I'm on T-Mo, so obviously I don't care about LTE, well I do but I wont lose sleep over it's non-existance.

I'm stoked about a new Nexus, I usually swap phones about twice a year but ever since I picked up the GNex nothing has interested me at all because I love stock Android. I'll probably buy this as soon as it's available, assuming of course they follow a similar price point as last time.

There might be better acceleration in 4.2.

Although the TF700T runs at 1920x1200 and it's smooth most of the time and that was running on 4.0.3. So I can imagine a 2560x1600 being as smooth running on Exynos 5 and 4.2. I could be wrong though.

Only want if there's a large capacity version or sd card slot. Given the way recent nexus devices are I doubt I'll get either. Plus the battery life will be pretty short due to the amount of pixels needed to render. IMO I'd like to see a 1080p nexus but that's secondary to my storage needs. With that nice of a screen I want my full res movies dammit!

If Google isn't bring the Nexus 4 to Verizon, then it makes sense to leave LTE off. I still think its a little short sighted, but AT&T has only 40 or so LTE markets, Sprint has less than 20, and TMO has none. Verizon has 400+. In a year, we'll see many more LTE markets from Sprint and AT&T, plus a few from TMO. In 15 months, that Nexus 4 will be stuck on a very slow network.

I'd say the phone not being on Verizon at all is probably more of a deal breaker for you. ;)

Yeah. It's unfortunate Google has to compete using budget tablets. I hope that this isn't the approach of a 10 inch tablet. But at the same time its hard to see them selling at 499. I suspect compromises in design. If this isn't going to be the SGS3 or HTC One X+ of Android tablets, then I doubt I can buy this.

- Removable storage? If not they better go 32 or 64gb.
- Insane resolution? Better have good viewing angles, good colors, etc. Not some trash. The iPad has a beautiful IPS panel. This better be like an HTC One X screen.
- Construction? The Note 10.1 was a disaster. Let's not go down that path.

I dont think games will run at native resolution. With that said Exynos 5 will double bandwith to 12 gb/s and the gpu is in the 70 gflop range.

If this tablet does come out, I'd be very interested in upgrading from my Transformer Infinity.

I predict the 10" tablet will have 32gb and sell for $399. That gives Samsung around a 20% profit (excluding manufacture) or more per device, and Google will sell it at cost on the Play Store and Google will assume responsibility for marketing.

Where are your numbers coming from for such a device?
