Not that it was a deciding factore, but the officiating in this game was just terrible. The NFL needs to rethink their whole approch to the challenge, because the refs are awful.

wonder how many of the Raiders players will be back next year for the big game...

Id probably say, not many, not many at all. I doubt they get anywhere near the SuperBowl next year.

One simple reason, this was their last shot at a title until the cap would take its toll on the team. They are way over the salary cap.

I'm not shutting up any time soon. Good try, though...

I almost thought I was watching an NBA game it was so bad.
How about that bogus pass interference call early in the 4th? Didn't swing the game much but OMG was that ever a bad call. The pass wasn't even remotely catchable.

As for the game itself, my hat's off to the Bucs defense. Great job. Too bad the Raiders defense forgot to show up...

*Sigh* The Steelers should have been there, not the Raiders :( They were robbed in their last game. THAT would have been an exciting game.

I would have enjoyed a Steelers v. Raiders AFC Championship but I don't think the Steelers could have pulled it off with their defense.

You guys are forgetting about the most important guy in the game. John Gruden. The way he calls games is masterful to say the least. Just look what he did to Philly! He knew his WRs were overmatched with that great Philly secondary, but he cleverly used his assets to create mismatches! Come on, using tight ends to get Keyshawn one on one with a linebacker???

The bucs defense is much better than you guys give them credit for. Why are you Raider fans telling us that you will win because we have average DBs??? Duh we have average DBs, it's the cover pattern they use that make them great. If it were one on one all the way across the board, yes, Tampa's Secondary would get smoked. But that's the beauty of the cover 2 defense. They dont ahve to cover the Raider Wrs one on one. The DB's job is to funnel the WRs to the middle of the field where Tampa's linebackers can take away the big plays, this is the beauty of Tampa Bay, they dont give up the big ones because they use every single one of thier assets. And you guys talk about the Raider's offensive line like they are perfect.. Umm... no. Do u guys really think that the lumbering O-Line of Oakland can contain the lightning quick D-Line of Tampa? I believe that Oakland's O-Line will contain Sapp and the other Dts very well. But I just dont see Barry Sims (Left tackle) standing a chance against Simeon Rice. Rice is two fast and Sims is reported to be a technique blocker. Rice's outside speed is nto going to let Sims use his techniques. And what about the famous 9 men in the box blitz Tampa brings with Brooks and Lynch both blitzing? How will Gannon react? Will he force a throw? Probably not. Will he scramble? He wont get much against Tampa's quick defense. But he'll have to deviate from his original play. That may not seem like a big deal, but it goes with disrupting Gannon's rythm in the game and taking away the big plays. What about he devasting corner blitz from Barber? I jsut want you Raider fans to remember it's not going to be a 5 or 6 on 4 up front. The Oakland O-Line wont dominate and Gannon wont have eternity to throw, Tampa just wont let that happen. "

Did I hit it on the head or what?
Sounds like you do a lot things on the Head. You are so insightful that they should have you on every week making predictions on ESPN.

Now now, no one likes a sore loser.

Dwight was awesome, but I think the MVP went to the right guy.

While Dwight did return two INTs for touchdowns, it was Dexter Jackson's two INTs that broke the Raiders' back and shot Gannon's confidence. The early INTs are always the most psychologically damaging.

Whining about officiating is like complaining about the field being 100 yards long.

The referees make the calls and thats the end of it.

The Raiders lost the game, but this was some horrible officiating. The Bucs "fumble" in the first half, the 2pt converstion, the pass interference (can you call holding if the ball is uncatchable?), and Porter being out of the end zone (this one was close, but the Refs made such bad calls it has to be included). With the execption of Porter's TD every other wrong call made was so obvious that you knew the call was BS before they even did the replays. The "fumble" has to be the prime example (his knees were down and even if they weren't the ground can't cause a fumble).

Argh. I totally agree w/Madden (and have for years) that having all-star officals instead of the best crew is a mistake.

No, it won't. The Raiders were the next best team today. The Buc's won. Happy?!
You're a poor example of the Team you claim for fame.
What we'll be talking about is how to rebuild a team that won't have the same line up next year. The Raider Nation never quits.

<-- fully expects the Panthers to be the red-headed bastard stepchild of the NFC South :(

NFC South does look strong especially if the Falcons get an O-line and some WR for Vick to throw to, New Orleans gets a defense and don't do their annual implosion at the end of the season and if the Panthers can get an offense. Congrats Bucs, you guys deserved this one.

Where do I say the Raiders would've won if it weren't for the officials? The Raiders lost 'cause they played like crap the first 40 minutes of the game and their o-line got eatin alive.

Ya know, it is possible for the Raiders to lose AND for their to be bad officiating w/o the latter causing the former.

If you have problems w/the clarity of my post then say so, but putting words in my mouth and jumping to conclusions makes you the "dipsh!t" dumb@ss.

Im just saying that Tampa hasnt got the respect they deserve all year and now they have won the super bowl. This thread was flooded with people saying the bucs dont stand a chance and they POUNDED the raiders.
