Starting February 2nd, we will start the first official ATOT Mock NFL Draft. We are asking that fans of the NFL join us in full force to make this an interesting and fun event. Here are the guidelines so far.

1. Each team will get a thread devoted to their draft pick. Starting on the 2nd, the San Diego Chargers will get their own thread, and Chargers fans (and chargers fans only) will evaluate team needs, see who is available in the draft, and use information in this thread to help pick the best player.
2. The fans of each team will have 2 days to pick. Once the pick is submitted (and if not submitted, it will be a majority rules type vote), that player will be listed as chosen in the main thread (this one) in this post. Trading of picks is not allowed. Atlanta will draft before Cleveland, in this draft.
3. If not enough fans are avaible for a given team, a player will be chosen for them.
4. I'm hoping to get at least the first round done, if enough interest is generated for this, we could do a 2nd round.
5. Any questions/concerns, feel free to post them in this thread, or PM Me or Cluelis.

Top Offensive Prospects
Top Defensive Prospects

San Diego Chargers 1. Eli Manning QB Ole Miss
Oakland Raiders 2. Larry Fitzgerald WR Pitt
Arizona Cardinals 3. Sean Taylor FS Miami (Fla)
New York Giants 4. Ben Roethlisberger
Washington Redskins 5. Robert Gallery
Detroit Lions 6.

I don't get what you mean....like a Fantasy mock draft of current NFL players (how we would build our team)? Or more like a mock draft of what we think the real upcoming NFL draft will be like from college to pro players?

Basically, what you would like your team to do based on their needs. College players.

Saulbadguy, your idea would work, but I would give it some more time. I know your season's over, but not all of us are done yet. ;)

I would assume that there would be no trading of spots, and you should post a list of the past draft picks in each new thread. You should also make sure that the mods are ok with the daily threads on the same subject, perhaps even getting a sticky for that day's thread.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Maybe for that, allow more than a day for each pick. Perhaps one per every 3 days. And Congrats to the Pats..I know in your premature pre-season thread, I wrote the Pats off this year, so i'm fessing up to that. I thought they would be 6-10, which seemed like a reality earlier due to injuries and everything..but man, hats off to Belichick for being a damn good coach, Brady for being an excellent game manager, and the outstanding team defense. Just watch out for the Chiefs next year :)

Hey, you're not the only one who wrote them off, so don't worry. I underestimated your Chiefs as well, so we're both guilty. :)

The only problem for allowing more than one day is that we have 32 picks to deal with here, and only so long before the draft. At most, I would limit it to two days, whilch is probably enough to get a number of votes from even the least popular teams. We should also try to think of some way to discourage thread crapping, as some people may find it funny to post really awful picks.

True. 2 days a piece, sticky the main post with the results in it, and then every 2 days, sticky the team who is "on the clock". I'd guess i'd have to request this from the mods...how would I go about doing that? I think it would be fun.

I'm interested in this.

My suggestion? Provide some sites listing top ranked college athletes, links to resources for those of us who don't scour for this type of info regularly.

I'd like to have the Bengals (closest team to me), but I don't know where to start looking into eligible draft players!

Also a good idea. Between all of us die-hard NFL fans, we can organize all the information about eligible players in the main stickied thread, with links and all.

Either PM or email the mods, get in a dialog with them ahead of time so that if they say no, we can figure something else out.

Just searching on google for a sec, I found this by Mel Kiper Jr., who does all the draft stuff for espn, and this from msnbc.com. That should at least get you started.

Edit: Stats galore for offense and defense

Edit #2: Espn already has a mock draft.

I an just bumping to let people know that Drew Henson has gotten out of his contract with the Yankees and is now eligible for the draft (unless someone trades for his rights beforehand). I don't think he'll be a first rounder, but I figured I'd mention it just in case.

Bears pick Janet Jackson...she will show her pancake boobs to the other teams and they will run in terror while my team scores.

With the 2nd pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select Larry Fitzgerald, wide receiver from Pittsburgh.

Search "Raiders' and post it in that thread. :)

Maurice Clarrett has been declared eligible for the 2004 NFL Draft. Keep this in mind!
