yep it was, however SOMEONE will continue to sub it, its way too popular to be totally dropped, the fansubs might be delayed for a bit but they will exist

ShoPro Entertainment, the San Francisco based affiliate of ShoPro Japan, plans to introduce a dynamic roll-out strategy that will leverage the strong manga and entertainment brand into a broad licensing and marketing program. Narutos television broadcast partner and key licensing partners will be determined shortly.

Naruto became an explosive hit in Japan after it was first launched in Shueishas Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1999 and it continues to be an enormous success. Naruto has also established a very large American fan base through the US manga series published by VIZ. We anticipate a huge success.

First introduced into the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan in 1999, Naruto quickly became Japans most popular ninja manga. In 2000, Naruto was expanded into a series of graphic novels and is currently in its 26th volume, with nearly 49 million copies sold in total in Japan. Weekly Shonen Jump, published by one of Japans largest publishers, Shueisha Inc., is considered the worlds most successful comic magazine with over 3 million copies printed weekly in Japan alone.

Since 2003, the Naruto series has been serialized in the US edition of the monthly Shonen Jump, and published as a graphic novel series by VIZ, LLC. The key characters are Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. the brightest of Narutos classmates, but she is constantly distracted by her crush on Sasuke. She hopes to some day win Sasukes heart&if Naruto doesnt get in the way.

On February 15 ShoPro Entertainment announced it was appointed the main licensor for Naruto in the USA. This has lead many to claim Naruto has been licensed. However AnimeSuki sees ShoPro only as a middle-man and not an anime company which releases anime themselves. As such we're not marking it licensed yet. Please note that this situtation may change at any time. Also the ShoPro "license" means Naruto is now much more likely to be licensed in the US, especially by VIZ.

also aone has said they are gonna continue subbing it even if anbu drops it, anbu has always dropped licenced anime so thats not new

i just hope someone stll does fansubs, AonE said they would but IDK if they will forever

im excited about being able to get it on DVD with a Sub track however i dont wanna wait YEARS to get up to date on the DVDs

Keep in mind that Viz has never asked anyone to stop subbing anything they've licensed, including the manga.

I honestly don't mind that it is being licenced, but like most- once you have heard the original voices the english voices dubbed over just ruin the feel of the show. I'm hoping for the DVDs they will just have them subed instead.

DVDs generally have both the DUB and teh SUB on it, if they didnt id never buy anime on DVD, the sub track is generally pretty good, the nwere animes are alot better then the old ones were, I just hope they dont use the englisg translations for the sub, where kage bunshin no jitsu becomes art of the doppleganger
