It's still no excuse for being rude when someone asks a reasonable question, of course, but I can imagine what a headache running that board would be. You'd need a lot of detachment to stay sane.

i was waiting to see if any one would acknowledge what a giant PITA that job must be. i frequent dfi.street daily, just a drop in really, but dear God, some people complaining, bitching and asking the same questions time after time have no right building their own rigs. i mean, do a little research for God's sake.

and i'm not saying a lot of the questions/complaints aren't valid its just many of them have been asked, addressed or resolved before. hell, they have to remind people dozens of times a day to fill in a complete system sig so they can help with whatever the problem is. "my rig won't boot!!! whats wrong???" x20 per day. no specs, no "this is what i've done so far". again, this isn't every case and its a bit exagerrated, but its a lot of them.

as reps of dfi they should probably take a step back from the computer a bit more so they don't come across as rude but its not a job i'd want.

Well, I searched, and the question hadn't been answered before definitively either here or there (I didn't check every single tweaking forum on the net though  ). I asked in a very straightforward, polite way, and got what seemed to be a very rude response with mr. angry bitching about how people expect them to write BIOSes to support future processors that haven't even been made yet (how he got that from a question if the X2 would boot with the old BIOS long enough to flash the new one, I have no idea). I might understand more if it had been a repost x100, but this was not (AFAIK).

I have no experience with ASUS support, so they might not be any better in terms of actually getting a reasonable answer - I don't know, but after my experience at DFI, I don't think I'll be going back. :(

DFI's technical support sucks. And althought they got many good reviews for their nf4 series motherboard, I think their motherboard is not so stable as those of bigger names like Asus, at least based on my experiences of nf4 sli-dr and auus a8n sli premium.

i'm sure you're right and i know they come across as asshats sometimes. of course they had the x2 running for a month or so with a thread or 2 on it and even have it in their database post 9 but a new visitor there wouldn't know that even existed probably.

anyway, no doubt they can come across poorly.

I hit DFI street a couple of times a day, myself. And yes, the moderators are getting kinda burnt. I remember around the first of the year, the forum still had a fresh feel to it. Now, it's getting kind of flat. But, it has to be a tough job and they probably should take a break from it and let some other DFI techs take it up for a while.
I do know one thing tho, the Dfi forum mods has never gotten the Elitist bighead like I have seen at the MSI forum. When the Winchester core first hit the street, the MSI nF4 was having some problems with the new controller. The mods pretty much told people that they were idiots to even think MSI would have a problem like that, and even if they did, good lick getting it to work because MSI didn't have problems like that. After a rough couple of weeks there, I sold my MSI and bought a DFI. And it was a direct result from the support that was given on that forum. One of the things that got me was they had "Anonymous" mods there. Of, course, it didn't take too long to figure out who they were. Then, there was the revelation that the real tech guys never read the forum, MSI was just donating the space for the forum (WTF?). I finally figured out that if it wasn't good enough for the real tech support to look at, it wasn't good enough for me, either.
Geez, I didn't know I was stilled pissed about that. Sorry for the rant.

haha, the dfi-street bashing in this thread makes me happy.

i really cannot stand the way that their so-called "employee" moderators treat forum members. Angry Games is one of the rudest, most immature forums moderators i have ever seen at a corporately funded forum.

just check out his attitude in this off-topic thread here.

I'm also in the process of getting a new AMD rep, so hopefully we'll have more answers soon as well.

Just got my 4400+ from Newegg! FedEx air is pretty good at moving stuff across the country on weekends, and thankfully they didn't hold this (that annoying package not due for delivery but on delivery truck). Week 17...

When was yours shipped, and when was it due for delivery? Mine's due on Wednesday, but I'm hoping they'll bring it on Tuesday.

Did anyone just notice that Monarch only has the Retail versions of the x2's now and the OEMs are gone. This does NOT fill me up with confidence since I paid for the 4800+ in full. My dam card was charged on the 7th of this month. Now unless they're going to receive the OEMs and then send those out on the 24th. Or they're jerking us around and they're getting the retail versions on the July 6th. All I can say is WTF and where's monarchjoe to explain what's going on. Tankguys I may jump ship with you on the 24th if I don't receive an email from Monarch. I wonder if I would of ordered the 4800+ from tiger direct 13 days ago if I would of gotten mine by now? hmm.

That is a frustrating situation. If your card hadn't been charged yet, that's one thing... but to pay interest on that kind of charge indefinitely is pretty bad.

However, I'll be honest with you and say I have no idea when we are getting our 4800's either. So if you find them somewhere else, don't hesitate to go that route. I wouldn't want you to cancel your order with Monarch, just to order from us and still deal with the same potential uncertainty. Granted, we wouldn't charge your card yet, but I still couldn't offer a firm date on shipment.

Shipped noonish PST on Friday and was due for delivery on Tuesday. Yeah, that was fedex 2 day, I felt I could afford it since someone else just paid for my last tank of gas. ;)

Even though I cancelled my order I paid for the charge (always pay in full), the credit should show up any day now. Quite annoying to be out of $630 for a month thanks to a pre-order.

The X2 4400+ booted up as an Unknown Clawhammer on a new DFI NF4 Ultra-D. The bios was easily flashed by a usb boot drive and the cpu is correctly detected with the 6-18 bios (also reportedly with 5-10).

I have no regrets paying Newegg's price for this. Having everything but one part for a month really stinks! I've never done that type of waiting game before. Now... to G70 or not... those Monarch funds will be back in time to buy one......

I canceled on the 16th, and when I checked today they had refunded the money (I originally ordered on the 2nd).

I might have stuck with Monarch if I would have known that, but given that they weren't (and still don't appear to be) communicating - combined with the other issues - I still don't regret ordering from Newegg. Good luck.

BTW, ewitte, when did you order?

I just talked to Monarch today (I have a 4800+ OEM on preorder with them, placed 6/13/2005). They said that to the best of their knowledge, they will be getting sufficient 4800+'s on 6/24/2005 to fill all of their preorders. I didn't bother to ask about the 4400+'s, sorry!
