Official AT Madden 2013 NFL league thread

I wanted to go ahead and start another thread so we could hopefully get more targetted responses.

I'm trying to get a Madden 2013 league going on AT. The last Madden league on AT was for Madden 2010 and there hasn't been much interest since, but I'm hoping that has changed.

For a good solid league, we'd need at least 10 dedicated and committed players (and hopefully more!). I ran the last AT Madden league and the last AT NCAA league, and we dropped to the point where we only had 4 or 5 players playing regularly and it sucked.

If you're interested in a league, PM me or post here and let me know what team you want (I'll take the Colts) and your XBL tag. The names and claimed teams are at the bottom of this message. If we can reach critical mass, I'll start a league. The league will likely be for XBL if it sees the light of day, but if we reach critical mass on the PS3, maybe we can have a PS3 league too. If we get enough people claiming teams, we can vote on rules, etc.

Please note that the expectation would be that we'd play one game a week and during the holiday season, we'd stretch the schedule out a bit; for example, during Thanksgiving week, we wouldn't expect people to play so we'd allow people two weeks to play that particular game. Also, and this is very important -- communication is VITAL. I can't tell you the number of times in our last Madden league that people just wouldn't communicate. If you're not willing to commit an hour per week (except, as noted, holiday weeks) and aren't willing to communicate with your opponents to schedule games and to let people know if an emergency comes up, this probably isn't for you.

Looks like sports games are dead to AT

They are, it seems. When we did the 2010 league, we had 23 people claim teams and within a week or so as I recall. Now, no one seems to care. I'm not sure if it is sports games or console games in general, because it seems to me that consoles are struggling now. At any rate, I may be able to get 2 or 3 more from outside of AT but I'm not sure that's enough.

EDIT: I mean, just look at the reaction we had in our 2010 league (Stuxnet started it and I finished as Commissioner):

I really wish we could get that type of interest and better yet, have people stick with it the entire season!

I know my xbox group of friends talk about doing one every year also so I might be able to get them to join.

I don't understand how on a tech forum with thousands of members and hundreds of football and video game fans, we can't find even 10 people to play in a league.

I would love too, but I'm afraid how easy it would be to forget about it and just enjoy routing for my favorite team 🙂

To be fair this thread is pretty dead compared to the other ones. I don't know if many really play console much.

I personally would have been interested, but I don't own a 360 or a PS3.

I think console gaming is pretty dead right now. I think people are bored with this gen and are waiting for next gen. It's too bad, because a Madden league can be lots of fun.
