another thing i just noticed is dont underestimate your cpu in this game. My OC dissappeared when i had to reset the bios the other day, and my q6600 @ 2.4ghz made the game almost unplayable at times (with a 560ti). I bumped it back up to 3.15ghz and its very smooth right now on high settings and 1080p. (around 60+fps)

Pretty amazing that such a chip can deliver such performance still to this day,and you as well as all of us know 3.15ghz is a walk in the park for a q6600,i owned one of the g0 chips and i have never been more bolder with another one then i was with that one,3.6ghz was easy for me but the heat was not fun.:awe:

A buddy of mine dissed my q6600 purchase saying it was a waste back in 2007,he had a e6600 and look where that got him,he built up a 2500k/6870 rig just to run BF3 and the"wasted purchase" still can hold up.

Woo hoo, more urban maps and city fighting (insert sarcasm here).

Let's get some more foliage, forest, nature settings. All this urban and city fighting is annoyingly similar no matter what map you're on.

I'd love something like Valparaiso (sp?) from BC2.

Hoping for a map to blow me away, something like Caspian Border did.

I honestly believe Caspian Border could be the next great map ever to be in a fps game right next to Strike at Karkand.

Eh I dunno. Caspian Border has it's qualities, but I'll never refer to it as one of the greatest FPS maps - let alone one of the greatest Battlefield maps.

But, to each his own. ;)

Caspian Border is a terrible uninteresting map that Dice lied about. BF2 Strike at Karkand and Gulf of Oman are among the best FPS maps ever created.

No comparison.

lol folks

Apparently, you most certainly cannot please everyone.

Let's not forget Armored Kill is bringing what looks like a few highly varied maps, with some expansive locales.

Also, Urban Warfare doesn't necessarily mean tight funnels or anything. Strike at Karkand and Sharqi Peninsula could easily be considered "urban warfare" - it's a fairly broad category.

Granted, I expect they'll really botch things up as usual (I still can't play!), and at least one map will likely be terrible, but they're just stating they are returning to more of the city-based environment.

If those Urban maps are somewhat expansive and offer plenty of routes and height to them and not a bunch of corridors strung together like Siene and Bazar (Am I the only one that thinkgs that those two maps are just typical FPS maps that are slightly enlargened?).

Seriously Scout helis on an expansive Urban map would be awesome, like the Aftermath trailers, Not Bazar or Siene.

I think Caspian Border, Kharg and Firestorm are utterly bland, uninteresting map layout and very repetivie (clustered flags and in Kharg and Firestorm just a cluster of industrial buildings) TBH.

Honestly my main gripe with BF3 is that the maps aren't good IMO, there's nothing special about them but AK looks the opposite of the three 'vehicle focused' maps currently. I REALLY, REALLy hope Aftermath, End Game aren't like Vanilla BF3/BC2 maps (honestly BC2 maps weren't that good either IMO, three flags in a line is utterly bland and plain).

I guess after so long, the depression for this game sets in and there isn't even a single interesting map and it is harder to please everyone.:awe:

I remember people sitting in queue for ages hoping to get just a few mins on the Caspian Border map during the beta.

The maps are simply boring.

Hell, I think the BF2 DEMO still has full 64 players servers from the sheer awesomeness that was Gulf of Oman. Nothing in Bf3 has that kind of staying power.

Was BF2's Karkand and Oman any different from the BF3 versions? I just dont see whats so great about either of them.

Yeah they were bigger (there are huge sections of Karkand that aren't in the BF3 version), not to mention the scale is different. The soldiers in BF3 are enormous slow bulky things compared to their BF2 counterparts, and this makes the maps feel smaller on foot.

EDIT: I loooooved Karkand on BF2, but I absolutely hate it on BF3. Hate it. As a matter of fact all of the redone BF2 maps blow chunks. Especially that one with the helis/jets but no god damned AA. Retardulous.

Overall I like BF3 better than BF2, as BF2 largely turned into just a way to get utterly raped by air unless on an infantry/ground-only map. It's a bit harder for air to completely dominate the way they did in BF2.

Why are there no US acquired RPG or RU Acquired SMAW unlocks?
(Asked by @Deffik_E05)
Unlike the primary weapons, there’s no real difference between the RPG and the SMAW in terms of gameplay. We felt like it was better to keep these weapons faction specific, like the IGLA and the FIM-92.
I must disagree.......Ive been working on getting the master tags for these lousy things and the SMAW has a much slower reload compared to the RPG. It feels like I can get off 2 RPG rounds in the time it takes to fire and reload 1 round from the SMAW.

I know they are anti vehicle weapons......but you can hit a guy square in the face with either and still sometimes not get a kill. Even on hardcore, Ive seen it leave the guy with no damage while I get a suicide.
I guess thats the price I pay for playing like a total nooblet. :D

Hey. What is your definition of close, medium and long range? 30, 60, 100+?
(Asked by @psn_steve10120)
Close range in the game is about 8m. Inside 8m is considered “point blank” and all weapons do their maximum damage here. For longer range guns, 12-15m is short range (like a sniper rifle) and they get damage bonuses at longer ranges since their fire rates are much lower. Medium range is anything under 25-30m. The vast majority of combat and kills in BF3 actually comes between 25-30m even on large maps like Operation Firestorm. It’s likely that our even bigger maps will move this out to 40m, however infantry tend to close on their targets and distance kills are much harder to achieve. Outside of 50m is considered long range. Here most weapons have hit their minimum damage levels and some guns are no longer accurate enough to hit reliably. For distances of 50m or more a bipod and a heavy barrel is needed to be really effective. 100m and up is almost exclusively for sniper rifles. Kills at this distance are rare and actually only account for about 12% of all kills in Battlefield 3.
50m is long range??? No wonder my accuracy stats suck!! Ill shoot at anything with any weapon at 300m or under. :D

Damn, I always think that 50 is maybe medium or short/medium. 100 for me is where you might need the 3.4x to 4x scopes. Usually holo and cobra work for me.

For the RPG/SMAW, I like the iron sights for the SMAW better than the RPG, but I think the animation is slightly quicker so it gives the impression it fires faster.

In other news, the new MoH Warfighter singleplayer gameplay trailer is up.

It looks pretty good. Definitely looking forward to a continued story with Preacher from MoH 2010.

Bf4 beta late fall. So game late spring? Sounds like it should be a 30 buck expansion not a new game :/

Esp since they say they will continue to support bf3. Why fragment us that much. 3 ips is toooo many from one publisher
