Updated - 03/03/2011

We have new official UEFI releases for the P8P67M and H67M boards today. You will not be able to roll back to an older UEFI after this update as it contains new firmware and B3 stepping compatibility. Additional UEFI releases for the balance of our P67/H67 product lineup will be released in the near future after qualification testing is complete. The next official UEFI update (13xx series) in the near future will feature additional user enhancements, USB drift fix and updated Marvell/Intel MEI controller firmware. I highly suggest a Clear CMOS event after loading the updated UEFI and then entering UEFI to reset your custom settings. JJ and I will have updated information on memory setups and SSD testing over the course of the next week.

1. Reset your UEFI to Optimized Defaults, reboot, enter UEFI and then flash to the new UEFI build.
2. After flash and restart, enter Windows/Linux, then exit and shutdown.
3. Remover the power cord from the power supply, wait thirty seconds, press Power On button to clear any remaining charge, clear CMOS for five seconds, reattach the power cord, power on the system, enter UEFI, set to Optimized Defaults, save and exit.
4. Enter UEFI, set your system to customized settings based on your system configuration (RAID, OC, etc), save and exit.

P8P67-M Pro, P8P67-M, P8H67-M Pro, P8H67-V, P8H67-M, P8H67 -
Change Log - (Based on 1305 code, not all items listed will be available depending on chipset and UEFI Options)
- Improved OC performance using Multipliers or Auto Overclocking
- Improved BCLK and DRAM OC capabilities when enabling the “Internal PLL Overvoltage” option in BIOS. Note - Sleep/Hibernate will not operate properly due to Intel Specs.
- Improved USB performance, Improved P67 XMP profile compatibility (please note, memory with X58/P55 XMP profiles will generally work but is not optimized for P67 and will usually cause problems when overclocking in several cases)
- Per Core Save Fixed
- Disable/Enable BT
- Minor Bug Fixes including new Auto Rules for C-States (C3/C6) when overclocking. If you are overclocking, C-States will be disabled for enhanced performance. Maximus IV Extreme -
1101 Change Log -
- Improved OC performance using Multipliers or Auto Overclocking
- Improved BCLK and DRAM OC capabilities when enabling the “Internal PLL Overvoltage” option in BIOS. Note - Sleep/Hibernate will not operate properly due to Intel Specs.

Please note - Enabling Memory Bandwidth Boost will tighten memory subtimings and can cause non-post conditions with certain memory kits. It is currently optimized for Elpida Hyper and High Speed PSC ICs. This setting will be optimized with additional memory profiles over time and we are working on "best" settings for mainstream kits now. I recommend unless you are trying to set SuperPI records with the above kits that most users leave this option disabled. It is meant for "on the edge" overclocking. ;)

Out of curiousity...why is 1053 still in BETA then and why isn't 1253 listed on the ASUS site yet?

The 1053 is being replaced by the 1253. The 1253 will be on the site shortly, just a delay since they are coming out of qualification testing now and are in the process of being uploaded on the FTP and support sites.

Is there any other faster source to get the new version of AI Suite II? That link in the OP to the FTP site in Taiwan is giving horrid transfer rates for me...says it's going to take HOURS to complete the download. I'm on broadband and I can get over 1MB /sec on other downloads so it isn't my connection causing it.

When will this version be officially available on the ASUS site? The version on there now just crashes when you try to install it on Win 7 x64 Home Premium.

Wonder if this will fix the problems reported online. I am returning mine without opening it and going to the Asrock p67 Extreme6 instead.. bad decision? I think im only giving up intel lan and bluetooth..

with the 1253 bios on the ASUS P8P67 PRO, is there an option to leave turbo on permanently?

It was faster however it does the same thing as the version I got from http://support.asus.com

Just crashes right after you launch the setup.exe. So is it any different? Is it the same one linked up above in the original post that is tailored for bios 1253? Does it work with Win 7 x64 Home Premium?

Which problems online do you mean? The double post at cold boot? If so, flashing to bios 1253 linked above, in addition to following the few simple steps mentioned here:

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1578675

will correct that.

Others have reported success by manually setting the proper RAM timings in BIOS as well. I don't think this is a huge deal and I believe in time it'll get sorted out.

Seems to have worked for me. Now if only the stupid AI Suite II would install.

It's the same one. I had no issues installing the AI Suite that came on the disk included with my motherboard. I downloaded this one and it just offered updates to my installed AI suite. Not sure why you, and a few others, are having issues installing AI Suite. I'm finding it quite convenient for some things. I hope you get it sorted out. Maybe a PM to Gary Key.

I really am happy with my purchase. I had a bit of quirkiness, some due to user error and some due to the newness of the platform. I have some minor software irritants I'm trying to figure out, but everything is working well hardware wise.

One thing I will say I find odd...There's no way that I see in the BIOS version 1253 to disable the marvell SATA ports. I don't know if it was in previous BIOS versions or not cuz I didn't look for it until now. I am seeing what looks like a report from the marvell controller every time the computer boots telling me there's no hard disk found. Which is true...there is no hard disk or anything else attached to the Marvell SATA controller at this point. I'm only using the Intel ones. So I figure, I'll get rid of that message easy...I'll just go in the BIOS and disable those ports for now. Only...I can't find any place in the bios to disable those Marvell SATA ports. Is this right or am I just not looking in the right place?

It doesn't really cause any problem other than it wastes time and slows down my bootup having it probe those ports for a drive that isn't there.

I have disabled both the Marvell and JMicron controllers in the 1253 BIOS. Advanced Menu, Advanced Tab(after the AI tweaker), look for Onboard Devices. Disabling the Marvell "seemed" to speed up boot time, since I have nothing connected to it, but I didn't notice any change with the JMicron controller.

Marvell supports (fake)RAID. JMicron is for eSATA ports. JMicron only needs to check whether something is connected. That is quick and simple.

Marvell looks for connected drives, then reads RAID metadata (if any) from those drives, and finally attempts to assemble the RAID arrays that the metadata describes. Just like the ICH does too in its RAID mode. I presume.

@ahurtt

thnx for that great link
I didnt know 4GB rams were part of the prob
naturally, those are the ones I have
apparently thats a quote from the ASUS vip forum from their main guy
I guess I'll have to spend some time over there in the deluxe thrd
***sigh***
you know, in this year of 2011, one would think the mobo makers would finally know how to make a board that works out of the box
but I guess not, its still throw it out there and see if anyone salutes, then after about 5 bios updates it kinda happens

Ok, thanks, I will have another look at a more sane hour of the day after I get home from work tonight. Maybe my brain will be working better at that time.

EDIT: Found it! Right there where you said it was. I guess 1:30 AM is no time to be poking around in new and unfamiliar BIOS. I must have looked right past it first time.

Is this intended to point out some problem with turning off the controller ports that one is not connecting any devices to in order to speed up boot time or just meant to be informational? Or are you suggesting that there might be some other way to prevent the "No hard disk found" message that comes up from the Marvell controller during boot other than turning off the controller in the BIOS?

I feel your pain man...I guess it'd be one thing for the motherboard makers if the technology never evolved but it does. So every new product is a new conglomeration of solder, chips, and silicon in a different configuration. Given the mind-boggling complexity of the nature of the things involved I'm amazed it all works at all. But yeah...frustrating.

I'd like to add, I thought that my double post from cold boot problem was fixed after updating the bios (to 1253) and following the steps in the link. But then I powered down and opened the case to put in my old hard drive so I could get my old data off it and when I powered back up I got a lock up the first time I tried to boot. It failed to post...period. I powered down and tried again and then it worked. I'll continue to monitor the situation. I'm using 8Gig (2 x 4G) of A-Data (specifically this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820211457) which I bought SPECIFICALLY because a) I wanted 8 Gigs, b) It is on the ASUS approved memory vendor list for the motherboard, and c) Newegg had it in stock at the time I was buying the rest of my stuff from them. Had I known I was going to have problems despite picking something on the list which was more expensive I'd have likely bought a different brand of memory...but oh well. So far this memory "works" even if it doesn't seem to be as compatible with the motherboard as the vendor list claims it should be. I even made sure to use slots A2 and B2 as recommended in the manual for when you are using 2 sticks of RAM in dual channel. You might try that if you are using A1 and B1 currently and see if it helps you any.

So I feel like I did everything I was supposed to and it is frustrating that it still doesn't work correctly. But I've built a number of systems over the past 10 or 15 years or so...so I'm kinda used to it. Seems like there's always something. Nothing is ever perfect. But it all gets sorted out eventually for the most part.

This bios helped a lot. No errors through 20 runs of LinX with a 47 multi on my 2500k with a max temp of 64c.

With 1053 I would BSOD at 44 D:

Now if I could only run my ram at its rated speed without programs crashing the os.

Hi Gary. Will there be BIOS updates for us P67-M Pro users? The one I have now is 0405 and it's very lacking in overclocking features. I mean there is no manual voltage option, just a +/- thingy now. Also LLC is only Enabled/Disabled. None of the Ultra settings I see in the other P67 boards. Basically I don't have the Digi+ screen. Or is my board supposed to lack these features?
