I just might keep this board.I think I found what it mates well to 😉 I installed a 2.26 on it last night and ran it all the way to 173fsb @ 4:5 mem ratio before it crashed running prime.Ran prime all night @171FSb 4:5 without a hiccup. Sandra mem scores of 3311/3324 using Samsung 2700.Temps at 46* under load.This board kicks ass with a 533 chip!

What voltages are you running at?
I can't get my samsung pc2700 to run the 4:5 divider even at 160fsb. (It's the real stuff from newegg.com, as it says samsung on the PCB.)
Update for my temps. I'm now running 38-40C idle, and 47-52C under a full load with just 2 panaflos providing case ventilation, and a YS-tech variable speed fan on the Alpha. I like the Qfan technology, I noticed it does lower the speed of the fan when idleing. I don't even need the YStech running at full speed to keep the temps at a decent range. I found that 2500rpm only causes the temps to raise 2C or so from 3900rpm. At 2500rpm, the fan noise drops below that of the hard drives spinning.
This replacement board however, isn't quite as stable as the first one I had. I had to bump the core voltage up to 1.675 V to be able to run prime95 stable for more than an hour or so. Before, I had it as low as 1.6 V and it was stable overnight with prime95 and 3dmark looping. Guess it's just a crap shoot when it comes to quality 🙂
Thanks to those who recommended this board. I couldn't be more pleased with it so far, and I don't mind that I paid a $20-$50 premium for it. You get what you pay for, IMHO.

wilki24: I have the Samsung from Newegg also.I increased the voltage to the next highest and ran Prime for 1/2 hour then increased it to the next step and ran Prime ect. ect. until I got it up to 2.85v I run it there all the time now.Ive run Prime with it there while I had hand on the memory chips,and they barely get warm.

I am however having a few problems with updating to the USB 2 XP drivers. I looked on the Microsoft website and couldnt find them anywhere. I then looked on the Asus website and found the relevent drivers and downloaded them. This is where i run into problems. I read the readme file which says to first install the QFE fix, then the Intel INF driver, then the USB 2 driver. Installing the QFE fix should be no problem, but i have no idea where to find the INF driver, i cannot find it in the zip file i downloaded from the asus site for the life of me.
All help would be appreciated.

Thanks Ardy!!! I have a SL67Y OEM and it will only go to 156 FSB. I've ordered a retail 2.26 and I'm hoping it is a SL683 like yours. I'm building another system with the P4B533 (845E) board that I got before the P4B533-V came out. So, the slower 2.26 goes in that system.

I have finished putting my first system together - without error 😀 - using this ASUS mobo, but I do have one issue that someone more experienced might be able to answer.
The ASUS Probe is telling me that the fan RPM is low. The threshold default is 1600 and I am just below it at about 1541, steady.
I am not over-clocking in any manner and the system is not loaded with anything more then the standard equipment. I have an Antec TruePower 330W Power Supply.
Is this normal? Is the threshold default set high because this motherboard is meant to over-clock? I have run the computer for hours and the fan get warm, but not overly HOT. the CPU and mobo temp is fine.
Any thoughts?

Im using a Asus P4B533-V mobo and when I put my ram in..the hardware monitor in both the BIOS and Probe says my voltage is under 3.3+ its blinking red @ 2.8v..what does that mean?
This didn't start until I added another stick of RAM..but when I put the old RAM back in..it still continues..Im not mixing ram..both are Crosair 3200 256 MB chips..Please HELPPPPP..Oh the pain..

Regarding the fan setup, I recently put together a similar system with an Antec True Power Supply and variable speed fans. The temps in my case thus far have kept the case fans running around 1200 - 1300, so low that my Hardware Monitor BIOS kicks into SETUP every time I boot. I just set that temp to IGNORE and proceeded on. Put your case back together, run a benchmarking utility to up the temp in the case, and ensure that the fans ramp up accordingly, and I wouldn't worry about it.
And do the same when you start to OC!

I am not an expert and have only recently put my first machine together, but check the specs on the ASUS and the RAM voltage that's required. I was puting together my second system and the mobo required RAM that had 3.3 volts. If your RAM is new I can't imagine it being a problem unless it's defevtive or the board is reading wrong. Do you have other RAM you can use to test? Besides the read error is the machine running ok?
That's my two cents, until the real experts chime in and make me look like a goof, which is fine.

I attempted to update the bios on my P4B533-V, from 1002 (which it came with) to 1003 (downloaded from ASUS web site.) I thought I would try the EZ-Flash utility available from the POST screen (ALT-F2). Everything appeared to go OK until I rebooted. Then the system halted after identitying the processor (2.4Ghz).
I only had the mb for a week, and I was able to RMA it. I now have a replacement installed. It also came with bios v1002.
Wondering if anyone here has updated to 1003 successfully (DOS boot diskette, EZ-Flash, or Asus Update). The rev. notes do say that 1003 does add support for suspend-to-ram for DDR333, as well as support for faster (future) processor speeds.
I'm reluctant to try any update method until I know others have succeeded, and even then only when I have a pressing need to update.

Only one problem...
The Intel site specifies that 1600x1200 is a supported resolution for the 845G, but even after updating to the latest driver, I only get 1600x900. Anyone have any ideas how to get this resolution?

If I try WinXP's "Standby" mode, (1) My USB keyboard/mouse don't seem to take me out of standby (I did set USBPWR_12 to +5VSB) and (2) if I hit the power switch to get out of standby I get the alarm sound, why, I can't figure it out...

Also, does it talk a lot or just when there is a serious problem with the motherboard?
The speech idea sounds pretty cool and I really want to hear it. I have to wait until next week to order one though.
I heard there also might be a way you can customize the messages some how. Anyone know if that's really possible?

I just got a P4B553-V and I am runing a P-4 2.26 @ 533 mhz with Corsair PC 2700 memory, and I have a simple question to ask. At least I think it is. I am runing my system at the standard 133 FSB speed and I have selected the 4:5 cpu/memory ratio. Should I bump the DDR Voltage up to 2.7v or higher? Also do you recommend bumping up the CPU core voltage a notch or two just to keep it snappy?😕
