I got the PS3 version, and so far so good. I dont see the point of saving citizens, as its pretty easy to get away from the guards. I find myself doing the absolute minimum to get to the assassination, aside from getting all the vision spots from the beginning. I wish you could kill all the people in a given city before moving on, as the distances between cities is pretty big, and it really takes you out of the game. Thankfully I finally made it to all the cities. Probably too many cinematics, as I dont remember any of that stuff anyways. A lot of the other stuff like getting all the flags and killing the Templars would get old quick, as you dont know where they are, and I'll be damned if I'm going to check every inch of the middle east. I ran across two Templars by accident, otherwise I wouldnt have known it was even something to do. I also wish there was more stealth. You spend lots of time planning your entry and taking out guards silently, but then you have to bum rush your target and haul ass. Kinda lame and inconsistent. I also find it strange that if your traveling in the countryside, minding your own business, soldiers take notice and try to kill you. It would also be cool if you could beat someone up and take their clothes, and then sneak into guarded areas. I guess it goes back to wanting more stealth.

But what it does well (free running, stalking, etc) it does very well. I got the Frys deal, so that seems about what the game is worth. However, I've only done two assassinations and I'm thinking about picking up Uncharted.

Yeah I agree with you. I think the concept of the game is very cool, but I also think they didn't want to push back the release. Had Ubisoft been given more time this game could have been extremely better then what it already is.

I found it to be a very funny game. I was about to assassinate a guard when a pedestrian walked between me and the guard and WHAMO they got knifed in the head. I just about peed my pants. Then it got to the point where I would just kill everyone, regain my syncho and repeat. I left many a trail of bodies. I agree disguises would have added a lot, even Hitman had those and that is like 10 years old. If AC2 has disguises, more Thief/Splinter Cell like stealth it will be a winner, and Day and Night time then it could be a winner.

For the people wondering what's the point of saving civilians and doing more than the min info quest... each one you do gives you another point in a bar that when filled gives you another bar of synchronization. With a full life bar you can jump off bigger buildings without dying to get away from guards, as they can't make that jump. And the guards get a bit harder in later levels where that extra buffer comes in handy.

Either way you either love it or hate it. I'm loving it and completing everything I can and will probably go back for the flags too. More variety would have been nice but I'm not bored yet and I'm almost done.

anyone else dealing with this?

Yes, my game locks up about 3x every session (2-3 hours). It is really annoying and I am starting to dislike this game. There isn't any variety or as others have pointed out any point to doing all of the repetitive side quests.

I will be selling the game after I am done with it.

Well said. im about 2-3 hours into the game and im not really liking it much. It doesn't help that i have Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank. Might just throw it in the mail box in the morning.

I think the first part of the game was fairly boring but once you got into it I thought it was fun.

Def something different then all the FPS games.

It takes a while to get into it...After I did the first couple assassinations, I was having enough fun to continue.

Still, the game is horribly repetitive. And there's all of this extra crap (save citizens, find flags, kill templars, etc) that really doesn't do THAT much extra.

The game is the same thing over and over...it just gets harder. I also find the free running can be frustrating. I'll be running over a small "bridge" between buildings, and Altair decides it's time to jump off. That's never useful. And what's up with the guards being paranoid in the kingdom? You can do nothing and they try to kill you.

Overall, though, it's fun and pretty cool...it just has issues that need fixed. I like the story so far, but I heard the ending blows.

Yeah, it started hitting me bad...even after I killed my target and was seconds away from a clean escape. I've put this game on hold until its patched.

I got this game from Gamefly yesterday, and I can't stop playing... I think it's great. Yeah it's repetitive - in the same way nearly every game out there is repetitive. I'm 6 assassinations in and I'm still enjoying it. Probably not a game that I'd buy due to replayability, but a great rental.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW

This game is the worst console game I have played in years. I finished it last night and hoped it would get better but it didn't.

Nothing is more frustrating that completing an assassination only to have the game lock up and you have to do it again.

Forget about being stealthy, once you hear that ding sound that you are being watched it can be very difficult to get away quickly. Forget about "blending" because you walk about .0000004 miles an hour and can not complete ANYTHING while blending.

Think you can get away when surrounded by literally 25 baddies? Nope. They will just push you around until you are dead.

If I had to hear that damn "synchronize" sound one more time I would go postal. What is the damn point of doing a 360 degree pan around you? YES UBISOFT I GET IT YOUR LANDSCAPING IS BEAUTIFUL. I understood that the first time you made me sit through it.

Don't get me started on the crazy people or damn beggars. I shanked a couple just because they wouldn't get out of my damn way and I couldn't run due to being watched.

And finally Templars... oh how I love thee. There is no indication you are around the corner but the second you see me it is go time. Forget the mission I was just trying to accomplish now I have to deal with your dumb ass and will likely have 56 guards following me by the time I am done.

Did anyone else feel like the end of the game was 100x harder than the rest? The huge fights at the end were damn near impossible. I had to look up some hints after failing the first large fight (Robert) over 30 times. Ugh.

This game is eye candy and that is it. The scenery and animations are cool. Everything else just plain sucks. There was so much potential but like Altair getting pushed off of yet another building it falls flat on its face.

Going up on FS/T if anyone is interested.

i think i may agree with you. but my xbox is at home until after finals, so i won't know till later (im already bored of it and i haven't gotten through the third assassination; hahaha).

yeah this game is now #1 on my list of biggest disappointments ever in video games. I had been looking forward to this heap of crap for years (or at least year) and for it to basically be a shiny turd, makes me want to cry. Luckily i only paid $30 for it, and have already traded it on goozex.

Done. I enjoyed it to the end (well, at least until the retarded last fight). Didn't freeze on me at all either - is it the 360 or PS3 version that freezes, or both?

I don't know how the hell I got through the game without ever killing 25 guys in one battle.

Agreed, except I liked the last fight. 🙂 It's already the game I have the most achievement points in, as I was having tons of fun going through everything.

From what I hear it's the PS3 that suffers from most of the freezes. I have the 360 version and never had it freeze at all.

Got half way though the game and i never had any freeze issues on my ps3. I ended up returning it. Got bored of it.

I'm in the this game is horrible camp.

I played through the 4th assassination on my neighbors PS3 and it is just the same thing over and over again.

It could have been really great if they had done the following:

Make it more difficult to hop across the roofs and up the walls...it felt like the game was playing itself sometimes.

Make combat more involved and difficult

Make some actual different, engaging quests instead of the same save the citizen, sit and listen to some guys talking crap.

Left out the dumb "secret" subplot

Sad, but true

The climbing and running across rooftops was actually one of the few keenly interesting thing to me. I rather enjoyed it.

Make combat more involved and difficult

I felt the combat, while not revolutionary, was not lacking enough to complain about. Some of the combo kills and parries were pretty satisfying, as well.

Make some actual different, engaging quests instead of the same save the citizen, sit and listen to some guys talking crap.

BIGGEST FLAW IN THE GAME

Left out the dumb "secret" subplot

I was uncertain about the subplot, but the ending made it much more intriguing. I'm now actually glad it was part of the game.

Overall, good game, but too many damn flaws to really recommend to anyone. The repetition ruins it for me, but the first half of the game was pretty fun.

Yeah I honestly won't finish it so the subplot might get better at the end. Mainly they just made a beautiful world with not much to do.
