we were bad today. 0 for 13 with RISP.

the two fielding errors didn't help either.

Maybe it was the quick finish of the Twins and As allowed themselves to relax a bit.

Gotta get it together tomorrow.

Cept the A's get Verlander who was arguably one of the best pitchers in the AL this year.

Tigers in 5!!!!

(because i'm going to game 5 😀)

great game last night, btw. nate's 4th inning strikeouts were HUGE. that should have been runs for the A's and possibly a momentum swing.

So thoughts on tonights game? Does Verlander come out with that nasty 100mph fastball and wicked curveball and make the A's look silly or do the A's and Loaiza come to life tonight?

You can only expect the best from Loaiza. However, some of the Tigers have hit his best before.

I expect Verlander to have better stuff/more command than against the Yankees, but will he wither even earlier than he did in game 2? The key will be short innings, unlike the struggles the Yankees put him through. If the Tigers can give him some rest by extending their innings, well then so much the better.

It's not like Verlander pitched poorly persay just the 4 walks killed him and one homerun. Otherwise the 5K's in 5 1/3 innings isnt shabby. Loaiza we'll see as well as far as whether he is pitching lights out or not.

Whew, Tigers escaped the first with only 1 against... I thought Big Hurt was going to do some damage. Sweet heat by Verlander!

1-1 now, good hitting by the Tigers and A's at this point.

Verlander looked possessed in that series, striking out 2 of the 3!

Verlander is rusty. He has been sat out twice in the last six weeks.

He didn't really ever hit his stride against the Yanks, it's going to take him a couple of innings to get back to where he can be. Then watch out, lights out.

That is until he tires. By sitting out you lose not only your sharpness but also your conditioning. He needed it though.
