This terrible, shameful, joke of a team that should get out of NY just beat your beloved almighty Yankees in a 3-game series. What does that make the Yankees?

Muhahahahaha.

I lost interest in the Mets and baseball after the lock-out season, but as small of an interest I still have, it feels damn good actually.

what else to say?

Mo Vaugn beat the Yankees tonight.

My one time in Baltimore in my entire life... I remember this.

Got some seats in the upper deck right field. Orioles were leading.

Mo came up .... leading run... Boston was losing otherwise.

I called a home run... He hit it.

Just something that sticks with you.

It's alright, only 1 series. Check back in September.

Mets record against Montreal who will be contracted is 3-4. :Q

No. Vaughn, Alomar, Guthrie, Benitez, and Giambi all helped beat the Yankees.

You're kidding right? Here's a team that goes out and spends ungodly amounts of money (even tho they can afford it) to buy the big name players every year, who in turn skyrocket ticket prices as well as other player salaries. Given, they're not the only team to do so (read: A.ROD)... they're very much the posterchild for the entire process. Just like the Detroit RedWings whom I had no trouble with in the past, it's just so easy to hate teams that buy championships. Then their fans go around saying their team is the best and this and that... well I wonder why. There's a difference between making improvements to a roster and buying to fill out the roster with star players.

But I'm sure the Yankee-haters in this thread are just Mets fans (or Sox fans) who are sick of that "were the best" $#!T they spew all over the place.

What does that make the Yankees?
Ummm, 26 time World Series winners?

Criticize the pay scale, salary cap, coaching or whatever.
They do win more than any other team in MLB.

Yo! Baffled2 - I don't know if I can continue to lust after your mind if you still consider the BoSox to be a challenge to anyone.
Pfffffft!!

The two significant "big name" Yankee signings in the past 2 years have been Mussina and Giambi. If you were them and were going to be a free agent, wouldn't you go to the team who offers you the most money?? These are professional atheletes who are well aware of their skills, they don't play for hot dogs! Don't blame George, he has money so he is using it, blame Bud Selig for not instituting some kind of salary cap! :p

Yes, that's nice and all... there's no question they're the best team to ever play, but only if you like to live in the past. Whenever a team does badly at a given time, they always look at the past and their fans use it to defend the team... wow, doesn't help them much now? It's different year after year, with any team in any sport.

Exactly why I lost interest in the game... the lockout... the players worried about their wallet more than the game itself. No, I don't put blame on the greedy, if I see a dollar on the floor, I'd take it too. BUT don't you believe, as a fan, it would be nice for the game of baseball to have a cap so any team can compete with any other "big market" team?

Hockey is such a great sport. Look at the league's biggest name and highest paid player - Jaromir Jagr. He was willing to forego the rest of his salary ($77 mil over 7 years) to play for his country in the world championships. The Caps told him he needed insurance, but without it, he simply said he'd give up his contract if he got hurt. That's why you're supposed to play - for the love of the game.

Hey, correct me if I'm wrong but Mets also go out and spend crap loads of money. At least yankees and red sox got something to show for it, in the W column :)

The Mets took steps to improve on their faults from the season before - offensive punch. If they hadn't, I'm not sure there'd be many Met fans for this season. It simply hasn't paid off for them yet... it doesn't always (just look at the Washington Capitals of this past season). But that doesn't stray from my opinion about teams buying championships.

Yeah I wouldn't mind a salary cap, but as long as there isn't one, George is not breaking any rules. All Yankee haters seem to say is that there is a direct relationship between your spending and your chance to win. If that's true, how is it that the Red Sox, who are no spendthifts themselves, not won a World Series in over 83 years!
