(This one is for those who don't frequent GH...)

At last.

Here is something me and several others have been hard at work at over the past few weeks.

It's a FAQ section specifically designed to answer the many questions seen here on the forums and repeated very frequently.

You can view the articles here: http://www.anandtech.com/guides/faqs.html

Be sure to check out some of the individual sections, as there are many more articles than those shown on the Recent list.

This FAQ section is managed by me, with several articles from various well known people on the forums, including pm, mechBgon, Noriaki, BenSkywalker, jpprod, RoboTECH, Mikewarrior2, Modus, Wingznut PEZ and others, with more coming soon.

If you have any FAQs that you would like to submit, have questions or corrections, please do not hesitate to PM me.

Looks great. :)

I don't see any OT FAQ's though. Am I missing them? Or will they be implemented? I think an OT FAQ would be valuable, but it would seem a bit out of place in the overall theme since it'd be relating to just this one forum and would just be asking things such as "What is neffing?"

Also, if you need an extra hand, just send me a pm. I don't know much anout hardware or anything, but I'd be willing to help if you need any.

I'll get around to creating an OT FAQ soon.

Do you all think we really need it?

Well, I don't really want the OT section of FAQs to blow out to 50 articles immediately...;):p

<<Do you all think we really need it? >>

That's debatable. On the one hand, as I said before, it doesn't fit on the main site like the reast of the FAQ does (a lot of OTers might never even know it exists if it were put there). On the other, an OT FAQ might get rid of redundant posts like "what is a nef?", "how does member ranking work?" (I know that one's answered under help, but the "help button seems foreign to many), "how do I contact the mods?", etc.

I think what would work better is an OT rules post, locked at the top (like they have in FS/T) that details a lot of that stuff.

The only question you need to explain in OT is what the different member status is.Now that school is out its going to be asked everyday ;)

I dunno Johnny, I've seen quite a few "what's a nef" posts as well. ;)

I originally had that answer in the Forums Issues section, but I haven't put that up yet.

Do you think I should merge that with OT?

That might work, but would any OTers (new or old) see it? If the whole purpose of having that put in would be to reduce such questions clogging up the boards, how would you direct those people to the FAQ since it's on the main page?

Well, we could have this thread made to remain at the top to let people know.

That might work as well, but if you're going to pin a thread to the top, why not just send the OT FAQ to a mod who could pin it there for all to see?

I'm more concerned about length....it would be fairly long. Besides, I would want people to check out some of the other FAQs there too.

Well, some of the threads locked at the top of Hot Deals are fairly long. If you want others to see the rest of the FAQ, you could post a link to it at the bottom of the OT FAQ/Rules. It could read something like "For more FAQ questions, go here."

I'll give this one a bump. With so many users, thre's bound to be a bit more feedback out there. :)
