currently i am at 225 fsb with prime stable for the past 8 hrs plus. this after doing some bios adjustments.

i do agree overclocking is never the same as what one person will do and what your able to do. chances are though with this board a bit more work it will do what i want it to do

also...

how accurate is the temperature that the hardware doc measures or is there a better program to use?

thanks!

edit: i think this board reads the temps a lil high...

does this board also undervolt? seems like it...

anyway....

I've also noticed the board reads a little high from what I think it should read, using MBM 5.3.0.0. I'm also undervolted by .025 volts or so on my core. Abit released a bios for the 1.0/1.1/1.2 that has a fix for the temperature reading, but there is still only one bios for the 2.0.

hmm...

i tried installing my printer today running off the usb port...

can't get it to work... windows tries to install the usb printing thing and says it finds the file c:\winnt\inf\usb.inf then i click on it and it says there was an error...

anyone know why?

what's strange is that i can't get my CF card reader to work either but my USB mouse is working fine...

weird...

Just an update with some obeservations on my Pencil trick voltage mod ...

1st off ... when I measured the voltage on spot2 while in BIOS (set on 1.4v) , my reading was 1.24v.
(Amazingly low ,,, allowed me 11 x 202.5 FSB only)

I had problems with using a pencil, so I used a .05 mechanical pencil instead.
(worked much better,,,, that resistor is too freakn damnd small,, even to see,,, let alone take meter readings and try to pencil)

I also added an old video chipset HSF unit (from my Voodoo 5 5500, when I blue orbed it) to the SB using a spare thermal pad.
(fits perfectly, low profile, used a 12v molex to 3 prong adapter for power connect)
My NB has a cyrstal orb I attached with thermal adheasive when I installed the MB.

My new 1.4v setting is now ~1.85v.
I also am using my Xp2600+ (333) with the 5th L3 bridge cut.
Corsair XMS PC3200c2 at 6 3 3 2.0 at 2.85v

I had to drop my multiplier to 10.5 at 210.5 FSB.
1.85v was only good to 215 FSB. (dual)
I also had to drop my multiplier to 10 at 220 FSB.

I'm currently stable and running prime95 at ~1.95v at 10 x 223.3 FSB.
Memtest86 - 1710 Mps
I complete both 3dM01 and 03 also.

3dM01 17,502
3dM03 - 5,489

Well just got mine in from newegg and it is a 2.0 :)

So I am happy abiut that, BUT my Athlon 1700+ is a Ver. A not B :(

I guess you can't have it all. But it should do 10 X 166Mhz :)

Just got my rev. 2.0 from Newegg recently. The only questionable thing I've found with it was after I installed the included hardware monitor. At first I liked it, because it booted up more quickly than Motherboard Monitor, and it included all the info that I was interested in, but then, for some unknown reason, whenever I'd start it up, it would make my CPU fan just STOP. Frightening. It's a Panaflo high-speed fan and it was plugged into the appropriate header on the mobo, and it wouldn't start again until I'd restart the entire system.

Luckily, I had an adapter on-hand, so the fan is now plugged directly into the PSU. But has anybody else had this problem? I wonder if it's the fault of the mobo or the software... Think I should bother to RMA the board while I still can?

i bet the fan draws a lot of power from the mobo... that's prolly why it does that when it does what you do..

just leave it directly into the psu and it should be fine :)

several people who have ordered from newegg have recieved 2.0's. you should call newegg to confirm what they have.

Newegg does not guarantee part versions.
If you ask ,,, you'll get thier infamous canned response email.
I think the 2.0 versions have been shipped by Newegg for 3 weeks now.

Shimminism::::

The hardawre Doctor software is the problem, not the voltage to the header. If you do your homework,,, (reading at Abit forums)
Your see the problem has been around since version 1.0.

I still use the software, seems that if you finish making changes in BIOS, the software works better.
(shorter and shorter fan turnoff times, until it doesnt go off at all)

It comes back as soon as you make a FSB change.
(just briefly,, it goes away quiker the longer the system has been running without BIOS mods.)

Where are the temperature sensors located on this board?

My local supplier (UK) can guaruntee a Revision 2.0 and Im looking to buy this board when I get my Bday money. (oh to be young)

I was wondering, where are the temperature sensors located? I honestly hope that it reads the proper CPU core temp. I prefer people telling me straight rather than bending the truth so same goes with sensors.

I think the nForce2 reads the temp rigth off the CPU if I am correct.

I have a Athlon 1700+ A chip running at 9 X 200fsb and she is at 49 degrees without the AC on in my place, so the house is about 74 degrees.

I think mine is getting a wireless xfer from the surface of the sun. I'm surprised abit hasn't acknowledged that the temperature readings are high. My 1700+ is @ 2.2, 1.7v, and idling @ 61C with an SK7 and 32cfm panaflo on it. :Q

I need some helps for my Abit NF7-S v2.0 board.

Just got it today. After installed all the components, the board shut itself down couple seconds after I pressed the power button. All the components worked perfectly on my v1.2 before. I tried to clear the BIOS but it didn't help at all.

Did I get a dead board or there's something I didn't figure out?

Thanks for all the helps.

I just got my v2.0 board in today and nothing when I try to boot it up. No fan, no HDD activity, no beep codes... Jumpered the PSU and it fired right up. Reset the CMOS till I'm blue in the face. Left the battery out, reseated the 2500+, pulled it out of the case with CPU only and nada. Tryed another PSU with the mobo and CPU only, nothing. The only thing that powers up is the red LED.

Just got my NF7-S v2.0 today!

I will be installing it in later tonight...

Just a quick FYI, I was about to ask the clerk at my local computer store if I can look at the board to see the revision number, but while it was bringing it to me, the side sticker on the box said "NF7-S 2.0" so that pretty much says everything :)

I will post a follow up with my experiences once I have everything installed.
