Any other good apps that I can use to try to OC my card?

I use Rivatuner for overclock and I scan with Atitool.

ATItool does not work fully with 8800 GTS(92) in Vista 64. Atitool starts, you can see the temperature and do the artifact scan but it does not show the frequencies.

I installed my 8800GTS last night and am using nTune to monitor GPU temps. I routinely hit 78C on load without any overclock. Is this too high? People seem to be hitting ~65C on load.

COD4 is destroying my system...

With the fan at 50% it will eventually artifact playing COD4 (highest everything, DX10 + 4X AA, TSAA, 16XAF @ 1680x1050)... I checked the temperature after 2-3 minutes in COD4 and it skyrocketed up to 78c... After a good hour or so of non stop COD4 single player, it will start to artifact and lock up. :-(

It is pretty much all related to the fan speed, because Riva Tuner will only adjust fan speed if the hardware monitor tab is open. I don't like having those types of programs open in the background when I game, but it looks like I might need to do that.

This is at 750/1823/2200.

Click the red button in the hardware monitor tab then you wont have to keep that screen open. But maybe just maybe you need to clock it back down a smidge.

8800GTS 512MB 750/1800/2000 core/shader/memory/55% fan

3DMark06 Score of 15584

Those may not be the maximum OC's for this card but I felt that the increases were reasonable after testing with ATI Tool for a couple of hours.

id say you have more headroom on the shader archangel, and take that memory down some. You really dont even need that much shader for cod4, maybe crysis

I can't wait to get mine. I step-up'd to one from a 8800GTS 640mb. The G92 8800GTS made it into my step-up window by 1 day, luckily. However, it seems EVGA is extremely backed up, so I'm still waiting. Reading this thread has got me excited though, and perhaps created a bit of angst towards the 8500GT that's keeping me up and running while I sit here and ponder how much longer it'll take EVGA to send my G92 GTS out.

I read the first page, and this page, so I'm not sure if this was posted but Hardware Canucks got 820/2234.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com...edition-review-11.html

I don't know if I'll be OCing mine or not (as I don't know how). I'll be OC'ing my Q6600 though. If it's no more difficult than that, I might OC the GPU as well. If I don't OC, do I still need to get RivaTuner to up the fan speed?

It seems like the huge majority of the people on this thread have the eVGA GTS. About how much did you pay for it?

I paid $339 after rebate for my eVGA GTS. It included Crysis too! (which is FS by the way. ;)) I'll see how much farther I can OC my GTS tonight, but I'm happy with 775/850/2100 with the little effort I put in. :)

I guess I'm the lone ranger with a BFG GTS (haven't opened it yet). I want the eVGA one now so that I can be part of the "in" crowd and be cool, dammit! But mainly cuz I want Crysis. :D

I got the evga because of the warranty and stepup. The RMa dept at evga is the best I have ever dealt with, not perfect but worlds better than PNY and Gainward. The lifetime warranty that isnt voided by overclocking or even using a 3rd party sink is one of the best out there.

Yeah, in terms of warranty, eVGA and XFX are the best. But throw in the step-up program and eVGA definitely takes the crown.

Well, let's see.... I've got the eVGA 8800GTS (stock 670) @ 0% fan, idle @ 31C, and I don't know the load temps yet, but i think around 44C or so.

well, to be honest, it's being watercooled. Nice and chilly.

I've maxed out Asus Smart Doctors overclock settings of 750/2000/2140.
I use riva tuner to Overclock my 8800GTS 512Mb.
My card is stable at 810Mhz/2000/2100
could probably squeeze more out of shader for sure, and a bit more from core and memory.

For everything besides benching I keep my card at Asus TOP Edition specs: 740/1800/2070

My latest bench at 810/2000/2100

First try on my BFG 8800 GTS 512 (on my e8400 running at 3.6)

Stock - 675/972/1674 - 13445 3d06Marks
OC - 790/1070/1959 - 14666 3d06Marks

Fan 61%, 42.5 degrees? checked right after running 3dmark.. sounds too low.
