Same panel as Apple's 30" Cinema Display, & you will need a dual link capable video card.

I'm running a lowly NV41 6800NU so I will need a new video card too.

I love that resolution, but that 700:1 contrast ratio at 400cd/m^2 looks kind of mediocre, even compared to Dell's current LCDs.

KICK ASSSSSSSSSSSS...

Any word on the price?

I like the new stand better as well! It's either a 2407, or a 3007!

Bring them on!

I'm hoping for $1500 out the door (on the inevitable sales), but I wouldn't be surprised to see $1800 or so as the official price.

The Cinema display is down to $2500 now, so I really can't see Dell going too near the $2K mark.

As far as dual link mainstream graphics (ie not high end workstation boards) I'm pretty sure all the current gen Nvidia and ATI parts have at least one dual link transmitter, though the low end cards may not support it.

BTW to put this beast into proper perspective:

ONE of these displays has more pixels than TWO 1600x1200 displays.

Yes... but let's look at it this way... do you need a 30" screen 10" in front of you??

they should've made it 1200:1 contrast ratio, at least 4ms ~ 8ms and 550cd/m2 bright and 2200x1300ish it would've been a much better gaming moniter.

OK guys keep in mind there is only ONE panel out there like this. It's not like they had a lot of room to be picky in large, high resolution LCD panels. They did manage to significantly improve on the Cinema Display's specs though, which is nice considering they share the panel.

I don't care about resolution that much once it getz up to 2k by 1k it really doesn't matter that much. What I do care is I don't want black to look like purple and bad ghosting cause of the high response time (11ms) it really affects action games alot.

Which makes gaming on it, very difficult and very costly..

I think I may just go for the 24" in place of my 2x2005fpws!

Why not just buy an LCD TV that has a lower native resolution? Or is a lot of desktop space that important to you? If it is, just add an additional monitor.

I agree. For games and stuff like xbox360, I rather get something like 37"+ LCD TV or better yet a nice LCD front projector like the Sanyo Z4 and play 100+". No downscaling required and much better gaming experience. Size > resolution IMO.

I would like this LCD for 2d desktop use. But I can't justify buying something like this when I have couple perfectly good monitors. My eyes says buy but my brain says take the money and invest in more shares of stock like Costco or Outback and wait couple more years.
