2025 Thread - https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/official-2025-stock-market-thread-💰.2624534/

>> Silver and Gold at all time highs - $79 oz silver and $4500 gold. Will the rally continue? Some have called for a horrendous correction in both, others are calling for more appreciation.

>> The AI trade is showing signs of fatigue as we are throwing more money than services and output can provide. Not enough man power for construction, cement supplies strained, memory prices absurdly priced. Meanwhile consumers and taxpayers are getting the shaft in the form of higher energy bills, outrageously priced electronics, and tax abatements for projects that likely wont yield much. Oh yeah, and dont forget the water!

>> Tariffs showing up in higher prices across the board in all consumer goods

Whats in store for 2026 besides higher temps? (85F in December 28th in DFW Texas today)

I am on this level, stay loose, bob and weave, show me a nuclear mushroom cloud and watch my zero surprise face.

but then i'll be able to upgrade my PC! still running a mobo/CPU/RAM from 2018 and GPU from 2020

I'm still sporting a 2010 build(early 2011 perhaps)...and really need an upgrade. Contemplating a Ryzen 9 build.

Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1100T Processor 3.31 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB
Storage 140 GB WDC WD15 00AHFD-00RAR1, 5.46 TB WDC WD60 01FZWX-00A2VA0, 279 GB WDC WD30 00GLFS-01F8U0, 559 GB WDC WD60 00HLHX-01JJPV0, 1.82 TB ST2000DM 001-1ER164
Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series (1012 MB)

The raptor drives used to be fast :)
This was a home DVR machine when cable companies were still doing QAM.

Up until July 2025, I too was using a 2011 Sandybridge CPU and was happy with it. After upgrading to a U7 265K some graphics intensive webpages animated so smoothly it was surprising. I also used to have a couple of WDC 10K raptors back around 2006. After spending lots of money on them and convincing myself there were so much faster than 7.2k drives I realized the speed bump was not worth the extra money. Ahh the good old days. :)

I still have two 7.2 1GB platter drives that I wiped after upgrading to SSD for backups and media storage. The platter disks are reliable workhorses and probably can still be used for cold storage versus DVD which I also use. I have seen old DVDs degrade and fade away to where they cannot be read anymore.

I bought a movie from Ebay that is very rare and I could not find online made back in the early 1990s. It barely works with lots of cajoling and skipping as it has faded to near transluncency.

I was still using an old 2012 cpu until the PSU died. I'll replace it. But I did buy 2 mini pcs for crunching. The old chip is just fine. Plus I've got an old HP laptop. Newer than the pc tho.
