Bye week blues! Both my QBs Peyton Manning and Michael Vick are on bye. Need to pick up a QB off the waivers. My options:

Josh Freeman against NO (allowing 6th most points to QBs)
Ryan Fitzpatrick against Ten (allowing 2nd most points to QBs)
Matt Hasselbeck against Buf (allowing most points to QBs)
Brandon Weeden against Colts (allowing 14th most points to QBs)

I am leaning towards Ryan Fitz. What do you guys think?

Josh Freeman

Got offered Malcolm Floyd for Steve Johnson. Guy i'm playing is in a big bye week and is in desperate need of WR's. He's got Jeremy Maclin, Malcolm Floyd and a bunch of good RB's like Michael Turner, Ryan Mathews, Ridley, Spiller. I have Marshawn Lynch, Trent Richardson, DMC, Austin, Harvin, and James Jones.

I figured it's a good trade right now since Floyd is slightly better/more consistent than Johnson. He'll be a better bye week fill or have a good chance of being a permanent fill. Thoughts?

/facepalm

Have you seen Fitzpatrick's stat lines from the last two games?
Tennessee has a much worse defense than San Francisco and Arizona. Fitzpatrick is a streaky QB, so he could very well continue doing not much, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a multi-TD game either.

The defense is only half the puzzle. For us Buffalo fans that actually watch the games, Fitzpatrick's arm has been HORRIBLE. The opposing teams don't need a defense - he can't hit a deep ball, his short ball hits the turf 5 yards in front of the receiver, and mid range ends up thrown behind the receiver most of the time.

Like I said, you don't need a pass defense against a wet noodle for an arm.

that wet noodle scored 28 points against the browns and 40 points against the patriots at home... the last two games were away and against good defenses. tennessee is gonna be playing at buffalo... they have the worst pass defense in the league with no signs of improvement and fitzpatrick is gonna be playing at home.

so, either fitzpatrick or hasselbeck.

Why would you gamble with Fitzpatrick when you know that Josh Freeman is going to put up good numbers on the Saints?

Half of Fitzpatrick's stats against the pats came mostly in garbage time when the Pats had their 3rd string defense on the field. His game in Cleveland was average bolstered by good defense and field position allowing 3 TDs (on only 208 yards passing).

Good defenses or not, he's had exactly 0 TDs and 279 yards passing in the last two games, and was essentially carried last week by the running game and defense. 153 of those yards against a Cardinals team that consistently stacked the box because they KNEW the Bills were going to run the ball more often than not, and Fitzpatrick still couldn't complete passes going 18 of 32.

Fitzpatrick's arm and accuracy has been horrible this year, even worse than last year. I'll reiterate: He has ZERO accuracy this year on the deep ball, his short ball has been in the turf and he has been consistently throwing behind receivers. Home or away, it doesn't fucking matter.

If anything, this is probably a great sleeper week for the Titans defense. Hasselbeck will have a better game than the already pretty darn good game he had against the Steelers with yet another week to get 1st team reps with the receivers. If he can get Britt on the same page and Britt not drop most of the balls that hit him right in the basket, then it's going to be a really, REALLY nice week for the Titans.

Weeden. If Richardson is out they will throw the ball a lot.

I just traded Vick Ballard Mikel Leshoure and Mario Manningham for Fitz and Nate Washington!!! The guy had zero RBs with Murray being injured and Bush on a bye. 16 teamer btw

I posted my team a few pages back in this thread after I drafted. I've made some changes since then, and so far I'm 5-1 in my first year ever playing (we're a 16 team league).

QB - Cam Newton
RB - F Jones
RB - D Woodhead
WR - A Boldin
WR - D Hixon
TE - A Hernandez (picked him up 3 weeks back, and hope it will really pay off now)
D/ST - Bears
K - C Barth

Bench

WR - J Jones (on bye)
WR - D Thomas (on bye)
RB - D Murray (injured) Damn, I'm gonna miss him this week
RB - K Hunter (not my favorite, but RB pickin's are slim
TE - J Casey (again, not my favorite, put TE pickin's are slim too)
QB - R Wilson (hey, he performed well for me when Cam was on bye last week)

Over all I'm comfortable with my team. I have yet to break triple digits with this team, but I feel over all I'm well balanced compared to others in my league.

Please feel free to critique, give advice, tear apart my team. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Question about salary fantasy. It looks like I've screwed myself, but when you sell a player do you get his current value or the value he cost you? I got several guys at start that I thought would have more value than initially priced at, but it looks like if I sell them during their buy to fill the slot I won't have enough money to buy them back for the game after the bye. Is this correct?

he is also a good pick, but i think fitz is better. fitz is ranked higher and has put up more points overall.

If it makes you feel better, I also needed a QB for the Bye and also picked up Fitz. I could have gotten Hasselback but I feel that Fitz has the edge, I was also leaning towards Cutler but .... nawww

Correct. When you sell, you only get your initial money back. The 'renegotiate' button only affects players whose value who went down, so it is good to check every week and hit it if any of your players values drop below the initial purchase price.

The 'green' value numbers show how much more it would cost if you bought them now.

^wow, that's stupid...seems like it would make more sense to work like lupi thought, and the way I would have assumed

I guess it prevents people from buying/selling obsessively and accumulating a nearly unlimited salary? meh
