So how 'bout all the drama with Posada yesterday with him refusing to play because Girardi put him 9th in the lineup. He's lucky he's in the damn lineup and Russell Shows Muscle has his job now. Maybe he'll get fined or something for this not that it matters.

Now Jeter opens his big fat mouth about it.

He just couldn't leave it at the apology by Posada, could he? Guy should also be apologizing for batting .165, aka worst in the majors by a starting player.

hey if they get offered good starter from team that needs his bat or glove at first i am sure they would listen

Yes, but, the question was:

What players could realistically be on the trading block?
Davis is batting .300 with power and good defense and, as I said, is under their control through 2017. They are not looking to trade him. There is NO logical reason.

Because he's under control for so long, they'd have to be offered someone with appreciably more talent, or a package that offered the same.

Not likely, not even close.

Ask yourself, what team is in such a need of a first baseman? If there is such a team, what do they have to offer that they would be willing to offer?

Unless you can come up with plausible answers to both of these questions, you have to admit: Ike Davis is one of the least likely trade candidates on the entire team.

Now, the only reasons we are discussing possible Mets trade candidates at all are a)their semi-precarious present financial position combined with b)the fact that they are not necessarily legitimate contenders now or in the near future.

Beltran is in the last year of a hefty contract and is old. It makes sense to try and get something for him because NOW because they won't get anything for him after the season ends and he won't be around to help if and when they return to contention.

Reyes makes sense because he is in the last year of his contract and will command a hefty contract on the free agent market, which, to those who think so, won't make sense for the Mets to do because they will be laying out money they may not have to spare in the short term for a player on a team that will be in rebuilding mode.

Davis is neither old nor expensive -- in fact, just the opposite -- nor will he even be able to be a free agent until, again, 2017.

Great chart that illustrates hitter's and pitcher's parks from the Good Phight.

Great article.

Real nice Phils, 5 runs of support in Lee's last 6 games.

This season is a lot like last season. A good deal of great/above average pitching, and a serious lack of run support. Multiple injuries; at least twoish (Brown?) starters injured for most of the season, if not 3 for multiple games, or even 4 for a few games. Fairly unhealthy team with poor run support. Would be interesting to see the numbers if everyone was healthy... well, I suppose there's always what happens after the All-star Break.

Phils finally win one, thank Gawd! Their offense busts out and DOUBLES the output of the Rockies in a 2-1 win.

Cole Hamels was money, and Ryan Madson earned his 7th save in 7 tries, striking out Cargo, Tulo and Giambi around a double and a more or less intentional walk of Helton.

Color me temporarily relieved.

Nice win for the Mets tonight against the Yanks and I'm happy that Dickey finally pitched well. The Mets pen has been quite good lately too.

Phillies game nationally broadcast so I can't watch it on MLB.tv .. awesome, so I'll just throw on the TV.. what's the game on Fox? NYY vs NYM. Of course. The hard-on for the NYY makes me sad. Guess I have to listen to the radio broadcast on MLB.tv now. Oh well, didn't want video anyway.

Don't blame NYY for that, blame Fox and blame MLB for allowing Fox to buy the rights to 4 games simultaneously with no intent on "nationally televising" the games.

This has long been a gripe of mine with MLB.tv and it's getting worse, not better.

The Yanks sure hit lots of homers (which would have been cans of corn in Citi Field :p ). ah well.. Mets had their chances but couldn't get any big hits.

Jason Bay fucking sucks. What a mega bust. Josh Thole needs to remember how to hit a baseball too.

Updating my post from a few days back Harmon Killebrew has passed at the age of 74. link

I remember as a kid when we were trading baseball cards if one had a HK it was like gold, the rest of us would pony up a pile of offerings to try to lure the lucky holder out of it usually without success. HK was a true slugger, 8 seasons of more than 40 HR's, equaled by only Babe Ruth, it was always fun to watch a HK AB, he swung with such ferocity it looked like he could fell a tree with one swipe!, RIP Harmon, you were awesome..

jason bay a bust?? what is the mets record with him out of the lineup VS in lineup?

To be fair, correlation is not causation. That said, my hat is off to the 2011 Mets. Given all their injuries and overall situation, they could have folded completely and tanked in the worst way, but they haven't.

As a Philly fan, I never thought I'd have sympathy for the Metropolitans. I'm sure I'll get back to hating them soon. :p
