***OFFICIAL*** 2010 Fantasy Football General Q&A

Maybe we'll get lucky and have only one thread for this season.

Who do you keep out of these two receivers? It's a tough call so I'm trying to get some input.

Calvin Johnson (WR) Lions
DeSean Jackson (WR) Eagles

CJ concerns me because of his injuries. If he stays healthy I think he will have a better year simply because Stafford is a year older.

Jackson is heading into year 3 after already exploding in year 2. The sky is the limit but having a new QB (Kolb) kind of scares me. Preseason game 1 was a good sign though with 2/47yds.

Discuss...

This thread has enough traction. Lets keep this the primary fantansy discussion thread from here on out this season. It's worked well in the past. Thanks everyone!

Calvin's a better receiver, but the injuries are certainly a concern. I feel a little more comfortable with Stafford than Kolb, but then again, it's the Lions...

I think I'd take CJ.

desean no doubt. dude will also get you some rushing yds/tds and a couple of return tds.

check out the box score for desean for the 2 games kolb started last year:

Yep they had a nice connection going on last year and the preseason game is another great indicator.

That's just the thing... I can think of nothing but positives with Jackson. Heck even reading RC's post it goes from a negative about CJ (Lions!) to... I would pick CJ. That's why this is such a tough call. 🙂

DeSean Jackson isn't particularly better than Maclin or Brent Celek and will see a lot more double teams this year. Calvin Johnson is much more physically gifted than Jackson and anyone else on the Lions, Stafford is likely to be better than Kolb, and the Smith/Best combo is better than Mike Bell/JJ Arrington/LeSean McCoy. Receivers that are 5-10 175# are much easier to take away by good CBs. Jackson will be a non-factor in the red zone. IF you get bonus points for long TDs Jackson has more value, but almost any way you look at it Johnson is a much better pick.

Calvin is taller than Desean and that's about it. Their speed is a wash, both run 4.35 40's.

Desean is a better route runner. He has better hands. He trains with Jerry Rice in the offseason (for what it's worth). He plays for a better team.

Both of their QB's are question marks, but Kolb is a veteran that the Eagles were comfortable enough in to dump McNabb for. That's saying something, in my book.

Megatron. Dude is elite and finally has a #2 receiver on his team so that double coverage becomes less common.

desean is faster. that much is obvious from watching both play. don't put too much into combine numbers.

Its a waste of a draft if anyone is drafting this early. I usually analyze the first three preseason games' first 2 series to make final predictions.

That said, DeSean has the upside. Lions are still the Lions.

currently on espn, both receivers are being drafted very close to each other. CJ at ~25, DJ at ~28.

I say you take calvin. he's the greater red zone option. DJ is more of the speedster WR and will not get targeted as a red zone receiver. He relies on the deep ball to get his points. if your league gets bonus's for 100 yard days, he'll have feast and famine type days.

Looking for a few more to fill up my league - no money, and you must remain active throughout the year. Send me a PM if you're interested with the email address you want to use.

The first game was inflated because they were playing from behind and getting blown out most of the game and the 2nd game was against the chiefs.

He's easily shut down by teams with good secondaries. In divisional games against DAL and WAS he didn't surpass 3 receptions in any of them and NY shored up their secondary in the offseason. So that is at least 6 tough matchups on the schedule.

CJ has the skills to counter the good defenses so I'd rather take him over Desean.

What if he was already taken and you haven't picked you 1st receiver yet? who would you pick then?
also Moss, fitzgerald, austin, wayne are have aleady been taken off the board.

I saw just kidding, here are the top 10 i would take, in order

Code:
1	Andre Johnson
2	Randy Moss
3	Reggie Wayne
4	Calvin Johnson
5	Larry Fitzgerald
6	Miles Austin
7	Brandon Marshall
8	Greg Jennings
9	DeSean Jackson
10	Roddy White
