"We don't give a damn about the whole state of Michigan 'cuz we're from O-HI-O!!"

THE Ohio State University is better in every phase of the game. That being said, however, with a rivalry game of this magnitude, you can pretty much throw everything out the window. As long as the Buckeyes win, that is all that matters.

Smith has only had to pass 20-25 times a game to win.

OSU has been able to run the ball.

Michigan will shut down OSU's run game. They will also get pressure on Smith with their front four, and don't expect him to be able to scramble like he has in the past. Michigan is second in the nation in sacks and number one in run defense (less than 30 yards a game).

This is a different Michigan defense everyone. They are one of the best in the country. If Ohio State can score against this D then they deserve all of the accolades that have been lauded on them all year.

WTF dude...

All season you bash OSU and then you come up with this ******. Everyone knows Lloyd is Tressel's bitch. Blue will not only be out played, they will be out coached.

Go Bucks!!!

There is no way to call this game.

You can throw stats and #s out the window for this game.

I haven't bashed OSU once. I have never called them untalented, overrated or undeserving of their ranking. Not just today, but all year.

I am just saying that this is going to be, BY FAR, the best defense that they have seen all year. Try reading my post again.

I'm not worried about Michigan being outplayed or out-coached. Lloyd Carr didn't magically forget how to coach and he still has a winning record against OSU.

I hope the OSU players are as confident about the outcome of this game as OSU fans are.

Michigan's offensive and defensive lines are better. Their linebackers are better and their running back is better.

OSU has a better QB and better WRs. They also have a better secondary.

It's going to be a good game. OSU is nowhere near "better in every phase of the game". That's just an ignorant statement.

Michigan hasn't lost a fumble all year. In fact, I am sure it will be brought up during the game but Mike Hart hasn't fumbled the ball away in over 700 touches.

Their D has done a great job of creating turnovers. In fact, Michigan and Ohio State are both in the top 10 nationally in turnover margin.

If this wasn't a rivalry, OSU would put a huge smack down on UofM.
Because of all the hype and rivalry status, this game will be close regardless of skill.

With that being said, everyone, who has at least a little sense, knows that OSU will win.

Mpitts, though you are clearly a UM fan, I agree that for the most part you've stayed somewhat objective, so hats off on that one.

I'm not sure I buy your "hasn't faced a D like this" - Texas, defensively, is very similar to Michigan. Also note that Troy Smith has pretty much stayed in the pocket all season - I have a feeling we are going to see quite a bit of his running/rolling out by design.

Michigan also hasn't faced a D like OSU's - so that point could go either way.

Here's how I see the game/matchup:

OSU has the best offense in the country - 2 great RB's, Heisman winning QB, 2 electric WR's, with WR depth behind them as well, solid, punishing O-Line.

I think OSU comes out throwing the ball, and moving Smith out of the pocket, designed bootlegs, options, etc. That will loosen up the D and allow for the running game to have in impact as the game progresses. I think Michigan may have some success running the ball, and they will need to maintain that throughout the game to stay in it.

I think ultimately that turnovers make the difference in this game, and OSU wins 34 - 24.

That said, I do think these are the 2 best teams in the nation, but I'm not sure a rematch is good for college football. ND has no business in the championship game, not over a 1-loss SEC team, Florida or Arkansas. I'd personally like to see OSU-USC in the title game - though again I'm not saying I think USC is the 2nd best team in the nation.

Should be a fun week, I miss being on campus for it!

One crazy scenario: What if Mich beats OSU, and then Ndame beats USC? Do you think humans will really favor a rematch of Mich/ND? The ND loss would knock USC out of the Pic. That would only leave the winner of Ark/UF and WVU/RU in the computer and human polls. I have a feeling that RU would come out on top in the polls if they can win, and as a result would play Mich for the national title. Number 1 and 2 Defenses in the country! Hart/Henne vs rushing attack of Rice/Leonard! lol

It's nice to see someone actually give some legitimate thought to their post. So many people here are so flippant with their remarks regarding Michigan. It's like they think all OSU has to do to win this game is to show up and bring Tressel.

It's going to be a great game and an awesome week. I agree with you that a rematch may not be what is best for college football. Personally, if Michigan beats OSU I am not going to want to see Michigan play them again.

Michigan's offensive and defensive lines will be key. If they can run the ball and can pressure Smith with their front four, they have a real shot at winning.

Is Manningham going to play for Michigan, that could be the key
Why wouldn't he? Did he get hurt last game?

Manningham is fine. He has been back for two weeks.
Yeah I saw the first half of the game Saturday, and nobody said a thing about him. I thought maybe he did a Griffey Jr in the shower (slipped) and got hurt.
