I guess we're going to hear about more of these.

http://www.wtsp.com/story/news/local/2014/12/21/police-shooting-fatal-pinellas/20722929/
Pinellas County, Florida -- The Tarpon Springs Police Department is reporting that 45-year-old Charles "Charlie K" Kondek is the officer who was killed in the line of duty on Sunday morning.
The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. on December 21, at Glen's Eureka Apartments on Grand Boulevard in Tarpon Springs. Police were originally called out for a noise ordinance complaint as the suspect was banging on residential doors. When police arrived the suspect shot Kondek and then attempted to flee in a vehicle, but crashed his car into a pole and then a truck at Athens and Cross Street.

Police caught up with the suspect after he crashed and he is now in custody. Officer Kondek was transported to Florida Hospital North Pinellas where he later died from his injuries.
Charles "Charlie K" Kondek served the city of Tarpon Springs as a sworn law enforcement officer for 17 years, many of which were on the midnight shift. Originally from New York, he had previously served for over 5 years as a NYPD officer before moving to Florida.
A news conference will be held this afternoon to provide further details regarding the incident. People in the community are starting to bring flowers to the Tarpon Springs Police Department to honor the fallen officer.
This shooting comes just a day after two officers were killed in an ambush-style shooting in New York City.

It only took 2 minutes for the resident Cop Hater to run in here and justify another cop killing. Did he deserve it too, ivwshame?

Lol! I'm using the same response other cop brutality threads get! You know, the ones where you say the brutality was justified and then proceed to excuse the cops actions?

It's a pretty disgusting response isn't it? Hypicrisy thy name is legendkkkiller (see what I did there? I took your name and made it stupid).

Show me where I ever excused outright unjustfied brutality?

I have said before that the guilty should be punished, on both sides. I just don't see "brutality" where you do, which is everywhere. If you had your way cops would be unarmed, no tasers, and would just talk nicely to criminals. Too bad criminals don't talk nicely back.

Bah, he'd still be unhappy that the cops even existed. But until that happens,

Let me do the same thing you do...

Legendkkkiller, if you had your way you'd have all black people walking around their neighborhood already in handcuffs. You think all black people are thugs! You don't think cop abuse ever happens and it certainly doesn't happen because it wasn't warranted. If you'd have your way you'd have a separate justice system for cops just so they can never be held accountable for their actions. That's because you support cops killing black people. That's why in every cop on black guy thread you are the first one to defend the cops actions. Black people deserve to be killed, right legendkkkiller?!

Doesn't look like a retaliatory type assassination like we saw in NY. It is just what cops have to face on a daily basis. It something everyone should consider before passing judgment on cops. How many professions out there run the very real risk of some random guy just walking up and shooting you just because of what you do for a living?

Overly butthurt response, LK! Care to discuss the incident?

If you can find the right spot on most anybody's butt, you can get an overreaction. But what butthurt generally is, I think, is moral outrage. It is morally outrageous, for example, to excuse violence because somebody has been mistreated even if they have been mistreated themselves, with or without provocation. As moral beings we are susceptible to moral outrage. But as rational beings we have a countervailing need to not allow that rage to cloud our judgment. There is great complexity in understanding situations fairly on all sides and emotions want instant gratification.

The point is that the rage is actually driven by good intentions, by moral feeling, just not rationally balanced.

List still stands.

Really? People shoot bouncers just because they are bouncers? Read what I said again. They kill cops just because they are cops. If a bouncer was breaking up a fight and got killed, that is different. If he wasn't breaking up the fight he probably wouldn't have got killed.

Some more:

Social worker
Judge
Repo man
Boss/coworker of a disgruntled employee
Wong wrong wrong.

Cops have a job where if there are shots fired, it is their duty to head into the fray and make things right.

The other people you list don't have that designation, not even the bouncers. All those guys do is escalate things to the cops when shit gets real.

It was an isolated incident. Not a "we're going to hear about more of these".

Being an isolated incident doesn't mean we aren't going to hear about more of them. Cops vs ??? is a thing now, therefore the news will report on it.

The news will report it as an officer killed in the line of duty, as they always do. It's always a news story.

Don't expect it to be another "officer executed" or "in the light of recent protests" story. I don't see that happening. If you read the story, there was a shit ton of stuff happening at the scene before the cop arrived. What's crazy is that you had a guy with a gun pounding on doors looking to shoot someone and it comes in as a noise complaint for a loud radio being played in a car.

Police officer isn't even close to being the most dangerous job. Their death rate is far below many other jobs, but they want us to believe that they're constantly in fear for their lives so they have an excuse to act like thugs.

Cops don't even make the top 10.

I'd be surprised if they make the top fifty. In my home town of some 50,000 ppl and over 100 officers there has only been one officer death in the line of duty in the last 15 years. And he got an entire park named after him for it.

Why does every cop get a fucking memorial? The soldiers who die fighting for our country don't get one so why the fuck does some porker who got hit by a car deserve one?
