Pick up the dvd-r/rw at OfficeMax today, it's not the same as in the advertised picture (dvr-104)
It's a newer model from Pioneer (dvr-105)

Here is a review from another web site:

The DVR-A05 writer opens up a new horizon.
Benefiting from the enhancements of previous generations, the DVR-A05 takes DVD writing to a new level by burning at twice the speed of the DVR-A04 to meet the new industry media standard*of a 4x write speed to DVD-R and 2x to DVD-RW, ahead of competing brands. The writer is also capable of writing CD-R media with a 16x write speed and CD-RW at 8x, combined with a higher read speed of 32x CD-ROM and 12x DVD-ROM.

*The DVD Forum approved the new standard of 4x write speed for DVD-R and 2x write speed for DVD-RW in August 2002

I just bought the DVD-R and it says DVR-105 on the back. The box says 4Xdvd burner, the box looks like the 4X model listed on this site too. when i installed it and looked in Nero and Device manager it says PIONEER DVD-RW104. If you look at the label on the drive it says DVR-A04.

Anyone else have this problem?

So the box is wrong saying A05 ...... But in reality it's a A04 is that correct?

Does the serial number on the box match the one on the drive? Maybe someone switched them.

I'm thinkin "This thing say's it's got a V8 and I think it's got a V6 so how about a TEST drive!"

Must be a different moderator on, there was a thread saying the same thing earlier and it got locked. I PM'd the mod, and here was the response.

That is luck of the draw, but the comment is more appropriate in a thread about the actual deal so it is not worth a separate thread.

That being said, I got a 105 too.

I understand that linking to coupons is against the rules, but I've noticed all the Office Max coupons are setup for online use and add the savings once you checkout with your shopping cart. Is there anyway to just print this page (showing the $30 off $150 purchase) and bring it to OfficeMax when I purchase the dvd-rw. Seems kind of strange, and I'd like to know if it's possible. Thanks.

axiom:

Thanks, but my only problem is that this dvd writer is not anywhere to be found on the OfficeMax site (correct me if I'm wrong), so I won't be able to make the purchase there. That'd certainly be the easier way to do it rather than bring the coupon to the store, then I'd just have to worry about getting the rebates.

I guess I might try just printing off the coupon page directly from the OfficeMax site.

And then, there's the issue of: is there one left? :)

The OM near me substituted the 2x Cendyne with the 4x Cendyne (DVR-105) for the same price.
