Office2000 problem with the stupid assistant

I know this is going to sound dumb but I have a user that wants the paperclip assistant. However it's enabled but it doesn't show up, the help balloon will pop up but the assistant is invisible, regardless of which one you choose. You can right click next to the balloon where the assistant would be and you can select the normal options (hide, animate, etc), but it still doesn't appear. I've reinstalled office2000 (win2000 workstation), but it's the same problem for anyone on the workstation. Any ideas??

P.S. I have no idea why they want the assistant.
