When you extract the files from the downloaded sp2, there are two files. Execute the bigger one.

Yes, it is cumulative. Why not create a slipstreamed Office XP SP2 CD? It's easy to do and once it's done, there will be no more need to install the SP. :)

Basically, you make a new OfficeXP install CD that will include SP2 so that when you first intall Office, it will be SP2 right off the bat. Here's instructions on how to do it..

1. Put your office xp CD in your cd-rom drive.

2. Click Start -> Run...

3. Type "X:\setup /a" X is your CD Drive!(This will install a VALID ADMINISTRATIVE POINT INSTALLATION)

4. Specifiy the Origanization/CD-Key/Location.
(For the sake of these instructions, leave it at C:\Office)

5. Let it install -- this will take a while

6. Extract the oxpsp2a.exe to C:\SP2

7. Click Start -> Run...

8. Type "msiexec /p C:\SP2\MAINSP2ff.msp /a C:\Office\proplus.msi" No Quotation marks
Do not change any information during this part. Just let it continue.
Let it proceed. This may take some time to continue.

9. Click Start -> Run...

10. Type "msiexec /p C:\SP2\Owc10SP2ff.msp /a C:\Office\owc10.msi" No Quotation marks
Do not change any information during this part. Just let it continue.
Let it proceed. This may take some time to continue.

11. Click Start -> Run...

12. Type "msiexec /i C:\Office\proplus.msi REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus" No Quotation marks
Let it proceed. This may take some time to continue.

13. Congratulations! You now have upgraded to Microsoft office xp SP2!
Please confirm by loading any install Office application (relating to
office xp) and checking the about box. It should state 'SP2' and the
version number should end with '4219'.

14. You may now delete C:\SP2 and C:\Office. The contents of
C:\Office may be burned to a CD for a direct, possibly keyless.

:)

Just did this for myself and it was a breeze.
