Office XP Question regarding SP1 shut down of pirated copies.

My friend was just telling me he had a copy of XP Enterprise, that he was running on his machine, and that he was going to download SP1 for it. It was mentioned in the Windows XP SP1 thread that microsoft was shutting down illegal copies that had been passed out, like the FCKGW key.

So I'm thinking that he might get shut down if he tries to do that. Can anybody tell me where I can find out what XP Offices are being locked with the SP1 update (for Office XP that is)? Or can somebody tell me which version of Office XP has been most widely pirated so I can stop him before he makes any major mistakes?

The corporate version of Office XP is the most widely pirated, because you only need the key, but do not need to register.

However, Microsoft are quite clever. You CANNOT actually install Service Pack 1 for the Corporate version of Office XP. You need to create an Administrative Installation Point, and then apply the service pack to that, which is quite involved (but not impossible).

Andy,

Can you give us some more detail on creating an Admistrative Install point etc. to get the OXP SP1 to install?

there are plenty of key makers on the net and they is always "k****".
All you have to do is create a restore point.
edit reg.
and enter new key.
POW
now microsoft can not tell it not a legal copy.

The key maker usually has the intructions.
